Palmer ORBIT 11 Cardioid Coaxial 3-way studio monitor (MSRP 799€/899$)

If I read correctly, some AES3 input gear will work with a SPDIF signal. I'm hoping that the Palmer guy will answer on whether the Orbit will.

Just to be safe, I ordered a Toslink to AES3 converter, optical out is most convenient for me.

In USA, Markertek is staring these are
"Availability: Preorder – Expected Availability May 2026".

I ordered from B&H who estimated 1 to 2 weeks, though I very seriously doubt that.

So, plenty of time to think about it (and maybe for Palmer to rethink their color accent choices!)

In Germany most shops who list them state they will be in stock around 25th of February.
who lists them? I have to see if they will ship to my country. I checked a few Palmer distributors yesterday but didn't see any that lists them

thanks - unfortunately they don't deliver to my country (edit: Gear4music does apparently, but I want the white version and they only have the black one for now)

Looking at other products from the brand, I think orange is their signature color. If you use any of their products in the studio, these monitors would fit right in, I suppose, which is why they chose this design. Personally, I would have opted for an orange palm tree logo and not the ring.

I've just noticed these have mounting points on the back.....I reckon these have the potential to be my realistic end game in a 7.4.4 home cinema config with some k&m speaker poles.

I'm anticipating the Klippel measurements, I've got my finger ready to pull the trigger on these.

I've just got to figure out how I get the RCA outputs of my Denon 3800H into the Orbit 11s......

If I pick up a pair of these, I'm definitely going to look into recoloring the ring in some manner. Sorry orange fans, it's just too distracting for me. It does very much cheapen the speakers look for me.

I really like the image above, seems like a better use of the color scheme.

I'm sure the early posts about these link to text stating that these monitors are mostly if not fully aimed at professional use and NOT domestic!!!

Here we are, an overly objective and measurement-based forum and all you lot can do is bleat on and on about an effin' orange driver trim ring!!! :D

I actually like it, as I grew up with and own an original Quad 33 preamp with its 'marigold' trim (whatever 'marigold colour' is, as it's yellow these days) - there were complaints about it back in 1967 or whenever it was, when compared to the valve based predecessor...

Pic nicked from HFN -

I actually prefer this above to the more garish orange on silvery grey of the 'new' 33, but apparently the illumination can be turned down...

Since the speaker has become a new audiophile obsession and there's no new technical information, and since the forum is getting shamed for too much discussion about the ring color, how about talking about the name?

What's the "11" about? Were there Orbits 1 through 10? Or is it because the height is around 11 inches (by a sanely metric manifacturer, seems unlikely).

Seriously, could they be making it any easier? It's a three way, active coaxial cardiod with near constant directivity around 10 inches on a side that goes down to 28hz, has DSP, PEQ, comes in an aluminum housing, with 1000 watts of amplification, has a five year warranty, and is going to be sold by B & H Photo in the US.

Oh, and it costs l.t. $2000 USD and has an incredibly decorative dayglo orange (tangerine?) ring that you currently can't have in any other decorator colors (drat!).

And they are more than happy to let Amir dissect it performance.

Betcha there's no two year wait for it to launch either.

All we are saying is give this piece a chance!
