Definitely took a page out of KEF‘s book when it comes to the coax arrangement, meaning that could actually work well, unlike what most other studio monitor manufacturers (except Genelec) are doing for coaxials.
Just find a shop that sell Goth make up and buy some black nail polish.Yeah if the Orbit 11s do 80% of what they promise they will be market disrupters at this price point, but damn that orange ring makes them look... cheap? Reminds me of the green Mackie circle. Anybody knows of a company that makes stickable black speaker surround rings that could fit these and hide the orange?
That’s just sighted bias….Orange is a hard fact. It’s orange. It’s there.
No number of ‘hard facts’ can change that hard fact.
If any Klippel tests prove this to be the most astonishing speaker ever built, at any price, the orange will still be orange.
That’s a hard fact.
No one on this thread has, or could, lament anything else. Because little else is known. And nothing yet (so far as I’m aware) from a reputable third party.
So the only lamenting on this whole thread has been the childish orange.
Which remains a hard fact. Cheers.
Seems so, and agree. If they decide that getting cardioid tuning and directivity right is more important than a crisp logo... hey, you know, that actually makes sense to me. And I technically have an art degree.Clearly R&D got more budget than industrial design & marketing. I’d suggest we profit from that fact.
It was mentioned somewhere earlier in the thread, but the mfr. confirms it's 3 amps per side.Neumann also use separate amplifiers for each driver instead of what appears to be a single 1000w with passive crossover?
It's a shame they don't offer other colors for the ring. I'm thinking lime green, fuchsia, heliotrope, feldgrau, dragon's blood, puce. aureolin, or even veridian.Orange is a hard fact. It’s orange. It’s there.

Palmer’s representative has stated here that they are tri-amplified: 500W/250W/250W (peak, I’m guessing). The Neumann monitors seem to be the benchmark on here. I am seriously keen to hear how they compare in aspects like THD, self noise, and phase response between each of the drivers. Another unknown is how reliable these monitors will be long term. I’ve had my original KH120’s for around 12 years!
Neumann also use separate amplifiers for each driver instead of what appears to be a single 1000w with passive crossover? This could possibly allow for more precise DSP optimisation of each individual driver's frequency and phase responses, as well as accurate driver excursion protection etc. in their dsp monitors?
Who wants to have to draw on their brand new, $1000 speakers because they look bad?The uproar over the “Orange Ring” is hilarious to me, if they live up to what’s promised. You’re $2.50 away from a “fix” with a black sharpie.
No wonder industry reps don’t come back.
That’s just sighted b

No, it wasn’t. Nobody has seriously considered DAC performance an issue since the late 1980s.Before ASR came along, digital to analog conversion was a big issue in audio.
Now that’s solved, it looks like orange is the new DAC
I like it too, but it's not orange, it's tangerineWill I be allowed to stay on the forum if I say that I like the orange ring?
