Palmer ORBIT 11 Cardioid Coaxial 3-way studio monitor (MSRP 799€/899$)

The vintage-style rounded serif font and desultory palm tree illustration just don't scream "high end audio" to me. Sorry guys, it sounds harsh but I know you see it too.
I hear you, but the brand doesn’t claim that this is a high-end product, though.

Clearly R&D got more budget than industrial design & marketing. I’d suggest we profit from that fact.

The Neumann monitors seem to be the benchmark on here. I am seriously keen to hear how they compare in aspects like THD, self noise, and phase response between each of the drivers. Another unknown is how reliable these monitors will be long term. I’ve had my original KH120’s for around 12 years!
Neumann also use separate amplifiers for each driver instead of what appears to be a single 1000w with passive crossover? This could possibly allow for more precise DSP optimisation of each individual driver's frequency and phase responses, as well as accurate driver excursion protection etc. in their dsp monitors?

I really appreciate the implementation of various solutions in this speaker for such a competitive price. I highly doubt this particular aspect will influence sales. It's an eye-catching design anyway. You can get used to anything except bad sound, in my opinion...

Did not mean You personally, but this lamenting discussion without waiting for hard facts.
Sorry.
Why can't I complain about the color choice? Can people still have opinions? And what hard fact do you need to know? That orange is orange? I congratulate the manufacturer for what they're trying to achieve with this speaker, but nothing is perfect, nor should it be. I suppose.

What facts (beyond orange)?

You wrote, and I quote: "This lament of discussion without waiting for hard facts." I think the only thing that's really been lamented, and quite often, has been the color of the circle around the speaker. But maybe I've missed something. We're all waiting for Klippel's test anyway...including my wallet ;)

You're contradicting yourself ;)

Well dear Members,

i tend to agree more to the @Salt point of view - i either don't care about the orange ring, i am more curious to see some serious review like maybe this from Amir coming soon

might have jumped too fast on the bandwagon after seeing cardioid...i have a seriously deep 140hz null. and they dont sound good at low volumes to me, actives always seem better at lower volumes. already have subs but i generally love crossing subs at 40 and lower. always felt something missing crossing at 80 and higher. idk
cant do much except bass traps or something for that or a better cardioid

additionally, sounding good at low volumes means something that is so horrendously bright that you can still hear the "detail" at low volumes, that's just audiophile terminology. They genuinely cannot listen at higher volumes so they just say it is good at low volumes.

Sorry.

Orange is a hard fact. It’s orange. It’s there.

No number of ‘hard facts’ can change that hard fact.

If any Klippel tests prove this to be the most astonishing speaker ever built, at any price, the orange will still be orange.

That’s a hard fact.

No one on this thread has, or could, lament anything else. Because little else is known. And nothing yet (so far as I’m aware) from a reputable third party.

So the only lamenting on this whole thread has been the childish orange.

Which remains a hard fact. Cheers.
