Output stage : Wiim Amp vs (disappointing) Wiim Amp Ultra

Of course I missed the entire party! Late as usual. The first thing I noticed is that all of the great people who post on this site were posting good ideas BUT you all missed the one major issue that his Tannoy speakers are 25 YEARS OLD. As soon as someone is saying they don't have dynamics or punch or they have sloppy bass or other issues I would first look at those older than dirt speakers. He likes them when he powers them with a fairly to very weak amp. He could be down to a useable 25 watts of power. I would grab another set of much newer and seemingly great sounding speakers and use them to see if the sound changes. First rule out the speakers as everything he mentioned could very easily be bad speakers having problems due to age. I just wanted to mention this even though the OP has fled the scene. Really too bad, I also agree that if he was listening with the volume knob anywhere he usually did with the old amp then that can easily sabotage any listening session. Matching levels fixes a myriad of sins. He could have easily tested this stuff WITHOUT engineering level sophistication. I think too many times our great engineers on here just jump into the weeds way too quickly. But since he has gone we will never know. Oh well.

How could it not?

Unlike electronics speakers are the main arena - along with the room - where "transparent reproduction" is far from solved

and it is still valid for nearly all models to say that each set has their own "signature" coloration

Q1 : Has anyone faced such issue with Wiim TPA3255 PFFB output stage, and what solution did you find in a similar budget ?
To answer this, you need to know:

1) complex impedance plot vs. frequency of the speaker used,
2) complex output impedance vs. frequency of the amplifier used.

Without that knowledge, everything posted here is only guessing. Unfortunately, complex output impedance of amplifiers under test is not measured here in ASR. Measurements into resistive load 4 and 8 ohms (0 degrees phase) are grossly insufficient.
