Hello audio sages,
I need a bit of advice. I bought the Outlaw RR2160 back in 18 or 19. While playing music from a digital source last week, the Outlaw shut off. I waited a bit and turned it back on only for it to shut off again. I ran my hand over the top at it was very hot. I checked all the wiring to see if anything was out of the norm. All the wiring was fine. Last weekend the same issue happened: it shut off due to heat. I pulled the cover off to see it it was dusty but that did not seem to be an issue. After researching a bit, AI responded that it could be drying thermal paste or a circuitry problem. Is it worthwhile getting fixed? I tried contacting Outlaw and their "ticket page" is not working. Currently I am bypassing the Outlaw amp with another amp but still using the Outlaw preamp. Do I chuck this receiver and start anew or pay for it to be fixed, if possible?

From what I've seen, there have been some issues with the Outlaw branded units...and little support. I'd move on myself.

I was thinking the same thing. Shame is much of everything else in the unit still works.
Just not worth repair. Long time ago, local repair shops. Guy next to my office tried 20 years ago. He gave up and worked for Toyota. Income and benefits for his family. I watched him suffer for 3 years. He really wanted to run his own business. I felt sorry for him. I was happy and sad for him when he gave up.

?

Perhaps the bias has changed for the output transistors. Or it is oscillating (try a small am radio near it, if it is oscillating, the pocket radio will go fuzzy).

Last night the Outlaw stopped producing any signal. I was using the Outlaw's pre amp and while running the signal to another amplifier all music stopped from any component. I have unplugged the item and will start anew. I bought an amp and pre am to replace the Outlaw. I tried contacting their customer service again and that proved futile. It's really frustrating that Outlaw does a great job selling items but fails to be of services once the item is purchased. Thank you to everyyone who replied.

Then they should go out of business
They have had a pretty limited lineup of audio gear, but seems best known for their rebranded ATI amps and their subs more than their receivers....or prepros for that matter.

Word of advice, if you have a failing unit please don't use it, it can be dangerous.
