I've been researching new IEMs, and I have to admit I'm finding a lot of the information online a bit confusing
Usually I read about speakers, which comparatively seems straightforward, in terms of measurements: 2034 + high quality measurement (e.g. Klippel) = good data.
Comparatively, the world of IEMs seems like the wild west.
From what I understand the B&K 5128 came along. There were no standards for this rig, so people started coming up with their own, and now we're left with a bunch of targets invented by individuals? Is this not regressive? To me (a layman, I should add) it seems to make a lot more sense to base a target on a study.
On the subject of studies: is it correct that the last study published by Harman is almost a decade old? How much has changed since then regarding our understanding of IEM measurements? Are we at a juncture where hobbyists have decided it'd take too long for a study to be published based on current measurement rigs, so they're taking standards into their own hands?
(Also, is meta a synonym for preference target? Or something different)?
