Hello fellow audio geeks,

I recently bought a dongle DAC for my IEMs and I would like to also charge my phone while listening to music. I looked for some recommendations but opinions are mixed - for some they work, for others don't, and also there's some issues with ground loops. Any solid options out there that can split USB-C into charger and DAC while allowing the DAC to do the handshake and function properly? Thanks.

This will work.

Have you tried it with a DAC that needs substantial power? Is the DAC power coming from the charger or the phone? I see they have integrated dacs themselves these cables, not sure if its exactly what I need, I just need data pass-through and enough power for the class AB amp in the DAC.

This one will do that: https://www.audiosciencereview.com/...8d-review-portable-dac-amp.21556/post-1045358

No DAC is built into the hub. Power for your dongle is coming from the charger.

If you're searching for alternatives, then "PD charging" or "PD passthrough" is the relevant keyword.

It will shorten the battery life. Battery should not be used while charging.

In the meantime I found 2 apparently dedicated devices:

1. iBasso CB19

Unfortunetaly it comes with a USB-A connector for power, so it needs an adaptor that has the right pins connected.

2. DD Hifi TC28C Pro

Seems to be what I need, but I would prefer a different form factor, this one is very inconvenient and takes up a lot of space unless I use L-shape connectors.

Anyone have any experience with these 2?

Maybe this one is a better fit?

If you want to attach a usb dac/amp I would not chose a dongle with audio out tho (inconvienient to choose the right output?)

I use this one:
It has an SSD, DAC and charger connected to it. I have it taped with black tape because it shines quite brightly at night. I never turn it off. My phone is set to charge at a maximum of 85%. I have tried several OTG adapters and this one suits me the best.
