I had not picked up on that... interesting indeed.... if the RZ50 can handle DLBC, then it could potentially handle ART as well...

More than that the processor in the RZ50 is the same as in the NR7100 (and their brethren from Integra and Pioneer) - which implies optional processing options right through the Dirac capable AVR's of the family....

Of course that implies the user spending more on the optional software, than they did on the AVR hardware.... which is a bit of a shock to the system.... But it could make potentially for the most economical ART platform on the market.

This is a great point. It's why my 3800 Is sitting in the floor. The full on Dirac is almost what I paid for the unit itself. It just wasn't worth pumping another grand into. The rz70 seems much better value for almost the same amount of money.

In value terms, the inclusion of DLBC in some new models will also be interesting!

ART obviously isn't out yet, but I am seeing a near future where ART would be included in the upper models.

Really? In the Netherlands I can't find it any lower than 2500 euro (new).
Only found one customer return for 2000 euro.

I bought one (new, unopened box) already below 2.090€ incl. delivery by DHL several weeks ago from a German company.
Some advertisements (Google) now show even a price of 1.999€ for a new box.
Note: In foreign countries this model still seems to sell at a higher price, sometimes even for a lot more

The fact that Klipsch is mentioned makes me think it will be a soundbar or a smart speaker with Dirac integrated. But I'm a pessimist....

Interesting that the article claims DLBC will be coming to the RZ50...

Yeah that's a good point. I wonder if they will disable the up-firing and side-firing drivers during calibration since they can't time align those correctly.

The problem is, that Dirac does not know your listeners distance and the height of Your ceiling, thus latency and distance (ms) cannot be calculated correctly, thus sound field reflections are problematic. Other measuring systems use normal "standard" parameters for this as a sort of replacement ...
I don't know, if this is handled differently by it's own app and / or the PC-application, because I don't use those typ of speakers...

It may well be the frequency limited version of Dirac... making the higher frequency reflections less of an issue...

Excellent point. Correction is almost certainly limited to <500 Hz.

Maybe on some presets like "TV Logic", but on my primary STEREO preset (for stereo listening), bass/trebble/vocal slider is possible to move up/down, but without affect to sound. When disable DIRAC with remote, corrections (bass/treble/vocal) are then applied automatically.

I'm using Dolby Surround as my default mixed, and with Dirac enabled, both Bass and Treble work just fine.

It may relate to what mode the AVR is in, I have not experimented with all the possible combinations - some, like THX, disable Dirac....

Final note/caveat: - I am using an Integra DRX 3.4 - most of the firmware is identical, as are most of the modes/dependencies etc... but not all - I would not expect this to be different between them.

If it still works in Stereo, Dolby Surround and Auro it's a nice quick way for some very slight adjustments, although they are fixed at 20Hz and 20kHz.
But those fixed bass/treble frequencies were the same on my Onkyo TX-NR906.

No, it does not for RZ70. I'm using DIRAC with DLBM (all three presets, so I cannot test, how it works without DLBM), and corrections works only with internal DSP presets (TV Logic, Orchestra, Unplugged, Game, etc), with any STEREO or Surround (DD Surround, DTS:X, Auro) preset, corrections is ignored, when DIRAC is turned ON. I tested it yesterday, so it's 100% correct.
