The first Onkyo capable of DLBC w/o paying over $1200. ;)

Looks like a set of pre-outs too! This may cannibalize some Integra DRX 3.4 and big brother RZ50 sales, LOL!

The rumor mill says that the folks with a RZ50 / DRX3.4/5.4 / LX505 are going to see a firmware update soon such they can upgrade to DLBC. I don't think DLBC means much for AVRs with a common bass preout (or does it?). One would hope there is more firmware work on the power limiting front. Better indication and auto reset when all is clear.

Let us hope that the amplifier design is closer to the RZ70 than the weak RZ50.

It's rated at 100W so it's a direct 7100 replacement! You also get 2 discrete SW outputs (perfect timing for the DLBC unified license)!

This doesn't make any marketing sense as it would steal the thunder of 2024 RZ units! Does Voxx really think there are THAT many market segments to go around?!!!

Are you sure the 2 SW outputs are discrete? I couldn't get the specifics from Onkyo's websites.

"The optional Dirac Live Bass Control adds: the two independent subwoofer outputs that are calibrated with all other speakers to provide bass refinement and fine details, while enhancing mid and high frequencies."

They can claim support for multi-sub DLBC now, LOL!

I realized that, but as we know, DL has now combined the single/multi-sub bass control license so just reference that license does not necessarily mean the two subouts are discrete. If you based it only on that BC license that I would say there is a good chance that those two subouts are, like those on the RZ50, just a paralleled pair but I definitely hope to be wrong on this. We will know for sure as soon as they make the owner's manual available.

Edit: Still no owner's manual, but the product sheet is finally out, confirming that the two subwoofer pre outs are independent. That's a winner, assuming they will price it a little below the RZ50's.

The statement I quoted is specific to the RZ30! It's not a generic Dirac statement and wouldn't make sense for something like the Denon 3800 which has 4 discrete outputs!

If it does indeed have two discrete outputs, then it's in many cases a replacement for the RZ50, particularly if you only need 9 channels of processing. This may be part of a rebalancing of the product line with the RZ70 (11-channels of amplification) and RZ30 (9-channels of amplification).

I'll also add that, between this RZ30 and the new Dirac-enabled Klipsch sound bar, it would seem we have the two new product announcements from PAC that were discussed the other week.

The big question will be if this has power limiting like the rz50. The rz70 does not appear to have this issue but it is overkill for some like me who only plan to run a 5.1.4 with external L/R amplification.

The other big question will be if the relay click of the RZ50 is something of the past.

The conditions are well known now thanks to Amir, so hopefully it will react like the RZ70 when pushed past the brink instead.

With the price and features this basically seems like a better version of the 7100 so guessing the 7100 will see a price cut when this releases.

Personally I'm excited for this one, I think my long wait for an upgrade is going to come to an end next month.
