Absolutely. Umik-1 arrives tomorrow (well, today, I'm in ET) and this is when I want to use Dirac on my laptop. The reason I've used basic mic and the phone app the entire time is that honestly I'm quite happy with the results. There were times where I found myself spending hours, days even, building and then tuning something, configuring, reconfiguring, etc... instead of actually listening to the music and watching movies. I'd like to change that, and I've made some progress.
I was very pleasantly surprised by the great results using the included mic and the phone app....

To tell the truth, although I adjusted the target curves "to taste" - objectively speaking, I am not convinced the results are any better than what I achieved in the first 15min using the simplest method !! :)

I subsequently used the included mic and the PC app, then a UMIK1 and the PC app - more control yes, more quality no.

I appreciate your feedback!

I have nothing to prove to you. Dirac sets all peakers to 70 and sub to 120. Screenshot doesn't show sub but in menu it can be seen it always sets sub to 120 and all speakers to 70 after calibration. FWIW, I have this receiver for a couple of years now, played with it a lot, tried different rooms, ran Dirac on it many times, etc.
You have one more thing to check: could you please check what your Onkyo crossover setting is currently at (AVR side, not Dirac)?

As I've mentioned previously in avr menu I can see that all speakers set to 70 and sub to 120. Before I ran Dirac this time, I had crossover manually set to 80 for speakers and sub. Maybe it's a part of process and these values are default for nr7100 indeed - that I don't know... But it does it every time I run Dirac.

Has anyone already had the chance for a deeper dive into the M2 Version on the Onkyo? I see PreOuts know for the Fronts and am wondering, if there are also other improvements to the audio quality.

Found this thread and I remembered I bought my receiver about a year ago or more.

I can't recommend it enough. DIRAC and acoustic treatment has made my home theater sound like nothing else I've ever owned. All this with $90 Mono in-walls.

So happy with my purchase. Everything works out perfectly well.

This is a tough one because I love listening to music with this receiver and whatever it lacks in audio quality DIRAC more than makes up for it and then some. Mine has been so good over the years as I have fairly easy to drive speakers in a small room. If it suits your needs this legitimately a great value for those who want its 5.4 and DIRAC support.

I decided to give this Onkyo a try after being impressed with the Sonos room correction and being curious what a modern room correction could do for my system. The NR7100 was still cheap enough that I figured I wouldn't feel so bad if things didn't work out but I was blown away. It made with stereo music much sound better but I especially fell in love with multichannel music using Apple Music app on the Apple TV. It was just a blast trying them out and the whole system sounded so much coherent with DIRAC.

Its shortcoming is a dealbreaker if it cannot handle the load for you, and you may want extra sub channels for DIRAC. But I would argue the audio-related features for its price are so good that it makes the Onkyo a worthwhile consideration for most casual users who just want to dip their toes in Atmos and DIRAC without going too far as long as the load isn't difficult. Everyone loves to recommend the Denon X3800H and this Onkyo has usually been so much cheaper with the included DIRAC option, even though I think the Denon is also a great option for its features and you may even prefer the XT32 despite it being poorly reviewed here.

The weird thing is -my system is rather.... Particular? The in walls are cheap, the Onkyo is cheap, but the acoustic treatment and the triple laser projector weren't. The whole room was purpose built for home theater. I actually have 4 12" subs with separate amplification each.

I've never felt the Onkyo running our of steam. Id rather give up first that raising the volume up to a certain point. I was surprised at how powerful the receiver is when relieved of bass duties.

I have no desire to upgrade it in the foreseeable future....

Yeah realistically I don't see why it would perform any worse than other receivers if your speakers can be driven to a sufficient volume level without the Onkyo going into the limp mode, and then DIRAC and the acoustic treatment will take care of the rest, unless the extra sub channel for DIRAC is needed. Products like this Onkyo or even the Denon X3800H may have their weaknesses but the value factor cannot be discounted when the features affect the sound so much.

I have a bunch of non matching speakers and I'm still amazed how nice they sound together with DIRAC and how cheap it was for so many amps in one nicely integrated unit without more boxes and cables going in my room. Just connection all those speakers to the receiver was bad enough.
