I'm listening with Philharmonic BMR Towers. Right now only using direct. Though with and with out subs depending on the time of day. Sounds flawless to me. Tons of power too, I don't think I've gone past 10-11.Thank you, that is helpful.
What speakers are you using with your P-80/M-80, and do you usually listen in Direct mode?
I doubt you could go wrong with either and if you live in Europe the EXN100 might be a lot cheaper.I'm thinking about the P80, but I'm also considering the Cambridge EXN 100. I know there are visual differences; the EXN has a screen showing covers, etc., but the differences in build quality and overall performance are what each one offers. Has anyone had experience with both?
Glad you like it. I absolutely love mine. I don't have that issue with volume from HDMI and I use mine like that every day. Make sure there isn't some weird setting or something.Yesterday I received my P-80 and M-80 set. I'm absolutely thrilled! I love everything, but there are a couple of issues I haven't resolved yet:
1. The volume when receiving a signal from a TV via HDMI is noticeably lower than from other sources (I have to turn the volume knob up to 12 o'clock, and the sound still isn't loud enough). Then I switched to Apple AirPlay and and almost went deafI haven't found a way to adjust this yet. I haven't tried Dirac yet, but maybe that will fix the problem.
2. I'm trying to connect to my NAS QNAP- the server is visible in the app (Onkyo Controller), but I get an error when connecting to it. I configured Music Station on the NAS, but so far there's no result. Has anyone had success with the same setup?
BTW, the sound and appearance are excellent. It sounds amazing with my Davis Acoustics Kryption 9 speakers!
The second problem solved too - MinimServer on QNAP works fine. Now I'm completly happy with this perfect pair.Yesterday I received my P-80 and M-80 set. I'm absolutely thrilled! I love everything, but there are a couple of issues I haven't resolved yet:

Hi, I'm looking for a preamp solution that could do Xover with HPF to the main out and LPF to SUB.
the Onkyo seems to be one of the only option on the market (other than mini dsp). my sub can LPF I'm mortly interested in HPF
I have a few question. how is the Xover implemented? do we have any choices beside Freq? like curve on both end? or curve at all? how does this interact with Dirac? Is it one and the other or one or the other ?
That the first thing and the manual not very informative when it comes to the sub management from the app. I also looked online for picture of the xover management on the app.. but I'll rather have the info from people with the product that trust picture one could miss interpret.
It has tone controls. You can change the bass, mids, treble and the Fidelity IQ stuff works well. I'm assuming the Dirac and Speaker distance/level let you change the volume level . I've not messed with it yet because I have pretty optimal set up locations already.Thank you Chanur, so just a freq choice without any form of (dB/oct) choice. ok
gasolin75,
"Why not a wiim ultra (when i move my volume knob om mine i hate it, it's not as smooth as my amp)"
I read It was not reliable some time not detecting the sub and not applying filter. / please clarify you are not happy with the knob on your Onkyo or Wiim ultra?
I stacked it the way they asked, but slipped an AIRCOM S8 between the two. Not so aesthetically pleasing, but heat kills.I don't know if it matters but Onkyo told me specifically not to put the M-80 on top of the P-80. The P-80 always goes on top. Not sure if it's because of the heat the M-80 gives off or of the P-80 needs the airflow. Just wanted to give you a heads up.
Thankfully I had the room to put them side by side.I stacked it the way they asked, but slipped an AIRCOM S8 between the two. Not so aesthetically pleasing, but heat kills.
A "passive" spacer (e.g., four hockey pucks) between components will provide adequate ventilation with minimal aesthetic (or financial) impact.I stacked it the way they asked, but slipped an AIRCOM S8 between the two. Not so aesthetically pleasing, but heat kills.
