Ok great inputs. They seem to be hard to find in Europe to. I live in Sweden...

Ascilabs are hard to find anywhere.

A shame as they seem to be exceptional across the range. But that’s no use at all if you can’t buy them.

I have my speakers on articulating wall brackets, quite high up and pointing down. Ask my wife why...

They are not flat onto the wall off course, they physically project out a way.

As they are rear ported, the ports have been blocked which means subs of the floor were needed. Don't point that out to my wife....
It took days to manually match subs to mains (I don't do room correction).

Most listeners think it sounds very good - no obvious uneven responses nor weird effects, but it is all in a very dead room to be fair. Definitely get a wall of sound, with vertical height as well as good location of panned instruments. And it's all cheap kit.

Bottom line - I reckon many speakers, bookshelf or standmounts can be made to sound good with a bit of hard work & experimentation. IB designs, or front-ported designs may be quicker to set up. If you haven't tried it, don't diss it with theory....

For a 23 m² room and a 2.1 setup, I'd put the Dali Opticon LCR and Lyngdorf FR-1 at the top of the list if you can find them used they're a noticeable step up from most entry-level on-wall options in terms of clarity and imaging. If buying new, the Monitor Audio Bronze On-Wall 7G offers excellent value and integrates very well with a sub. Just make sure whichever model you choose has a little breathing room from corners, as on-wall speakers can get boomy if placed too close.

MTM speakers have heavy woofer cancellation off-axis, so should be aimed directly at the listener which isn't really possible with on-wall.

What if they can be angled a bit just to align with the listening position? On wall is not limited to 90 degrees, one can easily add some spacers until the beam focuses on the desired spot.

Thanks. Yes they will hang roughly 0.6 meters from the corners and 1.8 meters apart. Have used Lyngdorfs FR-1 on a site hear for a great price, but read that they do best with there own amplifiers, with eq and room adjustment, think they have made up own presets for there speakers. I have a Wiim Ultra connected to 2 Iotavx PA3.

I've read some good reviews of Elac WS1665, it's more expensive, same categories as Lyngdorf and Opticon

Hade Lyngdorfs FR-1 on loan for some days, they play loud and with great low ends, even quite good without a sub, but then they are also big for wall speakers. They need more time to open up. Gone try the Elac WS1665 in near future as well, so i can compare them.

I ordered KEF Q4 and Monitor Audio Bronze on wall 7g will compare them. I wish there would be availability of Arendal, acoustic energy and Ascilab

For anyone who is still thinking of using on wall speakers as mains for stereo, don’t do it unless there is no other option. I had old cheap fluance sx6 bookshelves sitting on the floor, and now got Monitor Audio bronze on wall 7g, with 6 inch woofer. I spent 2 days of listening to classic rock and difference is very apparent in the mid bass, it’s basically none existent on MA. I would assume acoustic energy and arendal and ascilab will do better but they are more expensive and can’t really get some of them in the US

No idea about the MA speakers, but in the general case, don't put rear-ported speakers right against a wall. Best to block ports and add subs, if adding the subs doesn't defeat the object of getting stuff out of the way.

MA is specifically designed to be on wall, the ports are at the bottom. They state it can go below 50hz and have a punch in 80-200hz range. I’ll try a different amp/avr soon.

I imagine your on-floor speakers were getting a lot of reinforcement in the upper bass from both floor bounce and rear wall reflection (speakers on desks get a similar bump); the treble would've also been lowered by being off axis while the MA tweeters are presumably much more level with your head. I think I've seen that MA speakers are pretty bright in general too

If you want to better emulate the speakers you had on the floor you could try a high shelf filter to bring the treble down and a low shelf filter to bring the bass up, or just use the tone control knobs on the amp if available

I've got the F6B/s and I've got no shortage of bass though I'm running a sub and the ascilabs have more of a bass tilt in general cause of their dispersion pattern

I’m not familiar with shelf filters. What are they? I also do have a sub, and together they sound pretty good. Also, I think I got too used to and comfortable with my setup. After a few more days i enjoy MA more and more. Also I ordered a new avr to see if this improves things even more. And they do sound more neutral. I would not say they are bright.
