I'm looking to have Louis build me a pair of Alnico towers with a matching sub. My listening is Radiohead, Neil Young, Jazz, Steely Dan at moderate levels.

I'm trying to get a sense of what amp to get. I'm trying to define my budget and am thinking about one of two options -
a) Premium - Macintosh MA252, a classic, I would need to add a DAC/steamer
b) Moderate - Audioscience 6000A Play (class A/B) with integrated DAC/steamer

One of the key considerations is that the speakers will be placed in my living room. My wife has blessed the speakers, yet a rack of equipment is a no-go. I may be able to place the Macintosh MA252 under an end table, yet it will not be on display. It's about blending in as my wife has her look.

Thanks.

Did you install those Omega Alnicos yet? If yes, are they one of Louis's stock models? If custom built how did they differ from the stock models?

Since you use them with a sub (s) did you use the Omegas as sealed cabinets or left them as ported?

Whether stand mounted or tower speakers, I'll be using at least one pair of subs (Geddes, Toole, Welti), so bass response won't be an issue.

Driving them with that Mac MA252 amp?

It would be very helpful if on a scale of one to five, with five being best, you would rate your experience with the Omegas across these performance parameters:

Soundstage: width height depth.

Highs: Airy dispersion

Imaging:

midrange: size lifelike textured competing with electrostatics

midbass: size lifelike textured that competing with electrostatics

off-axis response: X-axis Y-axis
