If I understand your post well, when testing has been done under closely controlled blind listening conditions, it has been shown that multiple generations
of DAC and ADC conversions are inaudible. Be my guess to try @Blumlein 88 test files for yourself.

Speaking of turntable a friend of mine hates digital he has an immense LPs collection also with some gems I still think that 16/48 format can have a edge on 16/44.1 format The DAT can sound very good indeed

Your friend is very much entitled to his opinion and tastes, but the truth is that vinyls capabilities when it comes
to accurately reproducing the sound captured in the studio is very much inferior to digital.
If your doing live recordings I would chose the wider dynamic range of a 24 bit over 16.. Most studios are using 24/96 or better for mastering.

Hi no nothing of the kind I just listened a collection of tracks that i like and i found the sound quite ok
if i find something that suits me i am not pushed to try something else
Lately i have realized that the speakers are the most important link of the chain So my interested has shifted to learn more about them

thank you very much for the great link I read that some manufacturers of studio equipments used to demo their ad-da converters connecting more units in series and comparing a direct feed with the same feed after many conversion passages I guess the differences should have been minimal

I am trying to convince him to digitalize some of them I have some sound cards and an Apogee Rosetta 200 that i could use for that

It is very true that the quality to price graph can be very steep but also and
that the point of diminishing returns is hard to determine, at least for me.
The issue I find with DIY speaker building is that unbiased reviews of something built by many builders is hard to come by..
Every parent thinks their child is the smartest, most beautiful baby ever conceived. LOL
Look to the measurements done by indepent party's to get unbiased info, @amirm has done a few here.

i agree completely To be honest at present i am more interested in understand what makes a speaker sounding great
i have tried a same speaker with different amps and got very similar result So speakers are now more important to me And i am trying to learn
i can measure them for now

ok after 3 projects i am a little puzzled Let me elaborate a little
for me speakers design is a little like cooking The designer and also the builder is the chef
The very 1st decision is raw materials i.e. drivers selection No design can make a bad driver good
But a bad design can make a good driver bad
For this reason i have bought a calibrated mic a DATS v3 the usual stuff to test drivers/speakers
So the very first question is how to select a woofer i would say There are many good tweeters around But woofer are critical
The talented designer develops a series of measurements that can provide a measure of the quality of a driver
IMD CSD FR THD and maybe response to some arbitrary waveforms specifically designed for testing
And of course listening tests
In the projects tested i have seen some issues that i relate to a wrong driver selection Very trivial mistakes
In a 2 way the woofer is the main actor The tweeter is not a problem

Hi thanks a lot i have watched the video My intention is to be able soon to perform some of these measurements by myself
Some seem easier than other i like csd thd and imd measurements
At present i am trying to understand what makes a speaker sound boxy I like when the sound becomes detached from the speakers and fill the space
My guess is that design and build of the cabinet is key to get the speakers disappear
i had this sensation at an Audio Show listening to Wilson Audio speakers The sound was completely detached from the speakers that seemed like disconnected from the amps

With that kind of budget, if I'd absolutely need to have an expensive vinyl player, I'd rather spend approx 25K€ on something like Thiele TT01/TA01 + a nice cartridge, and use the saved 300K+€ to create an impressive vinyl record collection.

It's for sure a beautiful TT, but not worth 25K of course, not that i would spent 25K on any kind of TT

Yep, any competent DAC >$300 beats the crap out of it, provided that the source feeding it is not (mostly) popular music intently screwed up by the infamous loudness wars of course.

Also to check how big is the real performance gap with more down to earth units

although my "dream" TT is still below the one and i know one for sale , but i'm hesitant, it's more want it than need it, so.... difficult decisions, decisions.

The good thing is that they promote their creations on the basis of technical performance
