I'd be interested to hear of any digital crossover/eq solution you wind up employing to replace your ASP and/or miniDSP 4 x 10.
Yes, I did start out using the miniDSP4x10 (actually the old 2x8 board with digital input daughter board, but essentially the same thing). I then bought an inexpensive M-Audio M-Track8 and built the xovers/eq in JRiver, just to see how software x-overs would work compared to a hardware solution. This worked fine and gave me the impetus to buy a better 8 channel DAC (Mytek ADDA8x192 as I also have a TT). The Mytek is very versatile, but not cheap. I still have the Mytek, but have been using the Okto DAC8 Pro for 2 years now. I'm not sure if I could tell the difference between the Mytek and the Okto if level matched. However, the Okto is dead quiet - no hiss with my ear against the LX521s at all. The Mytek has a small amount of hiss, but the output level could be higher, I haven't checked. One big difference is that at power amp turn on (Apollon NCMP8350) there is no turn on pop when using the Okto, vs a slight pop using the Mytek.
I've also built the xovers/eq in Acourate (no DRC employed) which sounds identical to me to the xovers/eq done in JRiver and the measured transfer function for both these is the same as miniDSP. I've since got a good result using Acourate's DRC, but it took me quite some time to get it to my satisfaction, particularly in the bass.
