Here's a head start:Nice. Anyone interested in a DIY effort around this chip ?
look hereMine arrived in country Tuesday.
Now I need to figure what CamillaDSP is, or something else.
Kal, am I mistaken, or is this the top level Sabre DAC chip, while the Okto use the ESS928pro ?Here's a head start:
8 Channels 384kHz 32bit ES9038PRO PCM DXD DSD Audio DAC
4 layer PCB, two solid middle ground plane NDK NZ2520SD 80Mhz low phase noise oscillator USB Type-C socket, Gold plated RCA socket Three ultralow noise 1.2V linear regulator Free 0.96 OLED display until stock lastwww.diyinhk.com
Yes.Kal, am I mistaken, or is this the top level Sabre DAC chip, while the Okto use the ESS928pro ?
However, I have read that Okto does use the DIYINHK drivers for the setup?
What’s funny about android is that I was watching some emulation videos. Most of those work on android but not well on Linux. Android seems to allow a lot of things like Vulcan which Linux does not.Yes Kal, if possible I'd like to use the android phone as the file source and DSP. Afterall android has a linux heart . The funds that I save from not having to build an HTPC would probably go towards an another nCore amp or upgraded TV. As mentioned my current collection of music doesnt exceed 200GB, so if I'm able to pull this off with an android phone, I'd defer building the linux-HTPC+NAS to a later date. Thank you again.
on the Atmos for movies, you are right, right now AVR seems to be the only option :-/ .
The Okto parcel arrived this morning, how about yours ? Are you a happy owner now ? Did you receive your download link for the driver ?Hello, i also ordered on 26 feb, in the late night (01:00) and 10 minutes later sold out.
And they said they will dispatch my order this week.
But the Diyhnk driver for the PRO is not on website, do i have to ask for it? Or do they give a link when they give the tracking number?
Why no download on site?

Thank you for the feedback. It's a bummer that you didn't get it working.Yes have tried, and it is for certain Windows 11 that does something weird.
Tested the DAC in an friends setup, he has wind8ws 10 home, and there the DAC worked as intended.
So now i dont really know what to do.
Installed Theyson Driver 4.67
Installed Asio Bridge
Installed Asio4All
CH 1-4 no sound at all or very low.
CH 5-6 works as intended.
CH 7-8 not even tested,
So the DAC is not the issue, it is windows itself that mutes some channels somehow.
I cant change any volume on individual channels in Windows Sound Panel, if that had been possible it would have been easier.
The individual volumes in Theyson driver is at 0db / max, so someshere it is in windows that have changed the output levels.
And i dont think it is because of Widows 11, i dont want that anyway. I don't wanna reinstall that's why.
The DAC is factory restored at least one time.
Out of ideas actually.
I am now running Jriver into my Okto DAC8 Pro using the DIYINHK v4.67 driver under Win11. Since each of them is working, it must either be that one of the elements in your system is defective or not properly configured.Yes have tried, and it is for certain Windows 11 that does something weird.
