Okto DAC8 Pro - open to new orders

Mine arrived in country Tuesday.
Now I need to figure what CamillaDSP is, or something else.
look here
or here

Here's a head start:
Kal, am I mistaken, or is this the top level Sabre DAC chip, while the Okto use the ESS928pro ?
However, I have read that Okto does use the DIYINHK drivers for the setup?

Yes.
Yes.

Hello, i also ordered on 26 feb, in the late night (01:00) and 10 minutes later sold out.
And they said they will dispatch my order this week.
But the Diyhnk driver for the PRO is not on website, do i have to ask for it? Or do they give a link when they give the tracking number?
Why no download on site?

Thought it would come this week, but it is not dispached yet. Still waiting. Very hopefull of this dac.

Okey, that sounds good that you got that response, they probably have much to do. I'm just gonna wait.

Update: The unit is announced to ship today. Okto provided a Thesycon ASIO driver download via the WE platform.
I'll post a pic if it has finished its journey westwards ;-)

Yes Kal, if possible I'd like to use the android phone as the file source and DSP. Afterall android has a linux heart :) . The funds that I save from not having to build an HTPC would probably go towards an another nCore amp or upgraded TV. As mentioned my current collection of music doesnt exceed 200GB, so if I'm able to pull this off with an android phone, I'd defer building the linux-HTPC+NAS to a later date. Thank you again.

on the Atmos for movies, you are right, right now AVR seems to be the only option :-/ .
What’s funny about android is that I was watching some emulation videos. Most of those work on android but not well on Linux. Android seems to allow a lot of things like Vulcan which Linux does not.

The Okto parcel arrived this morning, how about yours ? Are you a happy owner now ? Did you receive your download link for the driver ?

Hello,
My unit will be coming on monday. It has arrived in country.
Now i am very excited, really looking forward to this project that i am having. All amps is powered on and warmed up for the last two weeks. Have aslo ordered siltech g5 sq88 cable 24 meters and xlr connectors to be soldered (will also come on monday) . But i have some other xlr cables for the time being so i can start usig the dac directly when it arrives.
This will be what i be using.
PC with Bubble upnp as streamer and Dephonica as crossoer> Dac8 Pro > 2 Acoustic Imagary Atsah NC500 for the tweeters, one Nord NC500 DM MK2 for the midranges, two NC400 for the basses. Speakers Monitor Audio Silver 10 as a test project for digital active one amp /element, but the 2 bass per speaker will share one nc400 / speaker.
Very hopeful for this. I will buy an spectum labs calibradted mic also when going deeper into this kind of conversion to digtal active crossovers.

I got mine, on monday,
But i have to ask, where is the volume?
There is no volume out from my unit, it is so low that i barley can hear it.
I have imstalled the Theyson Driver they provided.
Qobuz > jriver > dephonica > usb > amps.
It is soumd from headphone out, but not very high.

Pc
X570 e Gaming
16gb Vengeace RGB Pro SL 3600mhz
Systemdisk SsD

Wimdows 11.

And this is the only unit that have this low max volume, thst i have come across.
Either i am doing something really wrong, or i have a faulty unit.
And when pullimg to 0dB the sound distorts around 5, and that despite lowering channel volume to - 6 on all channels.
And it was low nefore i lowered channel volume.

I was excited, now just sad of how hard it it to get it working correctly. If it is workimg correctöy.

Even without dephonica it is low volume.

I will try again after work.

Tried all night

And the 1.42 fw that seems to not play the right samplerate when in shared mode, and when usimg asio/wasapi it plays but no output, a confirmed bug. Why do they send units with this broken bug?

Did you install (according to manual) the Asio4All & AsioBridge with the DIYHNK (Thesycon) driver?
Did that produce or solve your problem with Windows ?
Which Input mode did you use ?
Wonder if I should try with LMS of Gentoo-fied RPi as endpoint to avoid frustration ...

Yes have tried, and it is for certain Windows 11 that does something weird.
Tested the DAC in an friends setup, he has wind8ws 10 home, and there the DAC worked as intended.

So now i dont really know what to do.

Installed Theyson Driver 4.67
Installed Asio Bridge
Installed Asio4All
CH 1-4 no sound at all or very low.
CH 5-6 works as intended.
CH 7-8 not even tested,

So the DAC is not the issue, it is windows itself that mutes some channels somehow.
I cant change any volume on individual channels in Windows Sound Panel, if that had been possible it would have been easier.
The individual volumes in Theyson driver is at 0db / max, so someshere it is in windows that have changed the output levels.

And i dont think it is because of Widows 11, i dont want that anyway. I don't wanna reinstall that's why.

The DAC is factory restored at least one time.

Out of ideas actually.

Thank you for the feedback. It's a bummer that you didn't get it working.
If it works correctly under Windows 10, I would think that the Thesycon driver (DIYINHK_UsbAudio_v4.67.0_2019-08-05 - its from 2019) might not suited for W11. Contact Eliska or Pavel at Okto about that, or ask at Thysecon if they have a driver option for W11 (https://thesycon.de/eng/usb_audiodriver.shtml -> info ad thesycon.de) for that specific driver.
For testing the unit, you could use a RPi as Endpoint and connect it to the OKTO.
Not sure that is what you have in mind ... good luck

I am now running Jriver into my Okto DAC8 Pro using the DIYINHK v4.67 driver under Win11. Since each of them is working, it must either be that one of the elements in your system is defective or not properly configured.
