OK, what are you guys buying yourselves for Christmas?

I guess my Christmas present already came earlier last month:

Heco Aurora 700. I don't have money in abundance, and never owned floorstanders, so I guess these for 600 euromoneys the pair (bargain!) in my favourite colour do count as a treat. Look at this:

That's exactly what they sound like. For this price? Highly recommended. I'm having a lot of fun with these. Parents asked what I want for Christmas, and it'll be a set of locking banana plugs, just for looks and convenience. Dad is an electronics engineer and old professional audiohead, so he'll get me something nice. Bare wire is electrically perfect as far as I'm concerned, but why not make it one better. :D
Congratulations, they are really fine loudspeakers for their price, I heard them some years ago at a shop and was positively surprised and even considered getting the green ones.

Their larger siblings 1000 were also positively measured and reviewed at Audioholics:

I guess this would qualify: Celia & Perah R1 diy radio/bluetooth speaker. Had been "thinking about it" for at least a year, when a USA eBay seller offered one at a price I couldn't resist. Finish is my attempt at simulating carbonized bamboo using hobby paints

So far this month I've picked up 2 pairs of the JBL Endurance Run 2 Wired IEMs that Amirm reviewed last month because they are 50% off.

tell me you’re an American without telling me you’re an American

;)

Ha, I'm still heavily considering pick up a few of these just because!

My old (4yr) electric recliner/listening chair broke the internal frame so a new replacement for Xmas that raises to help me out of it, back reclines fully and leg rest raises, this one is a wee bit smaller and cost the same - £400, cheap n’ cheerful construction and fake leather which will no doubt peel off in a similar fashion as my previous chair. My bro helped me to remove the board and wheels I fitted to the old chair and secure it to the new chair. It raises the height up by 15cm so I can get into/out of it and also raises my head position in line with my speakers, as I spend most my day sat on my arse in front of my speakers I figure it’s a win/win for common sense :p

Awaiting a L-C-R trio of KH-150's (buy 2 get 1 free ;) ). Expected to be my biggest upgrade yet.

Nothing audio, buncha stuff for my e-moto.

Should be good for your bass music! I know you're into that from the BASS thread!

They work nicely indeed! Of course they don't go anywhere near as low as rated by the manufacturer (those claimed 25Hz are surely the -10dB figure), but expecting that from a 2x6"5 speaker would be silly.

Instead placement and room modes work in my favour in this room, they go down to 35-38Hz at listening position, and very cleanly so. Pretty much the best you can expect from a speaker this size. That's plenty deep for music, and the usual bassy mixed Drum'n'Bass and Electrotechno is a pure joy. My old 12" subwoofer is now retired. :D

I had no plans to buy anything audio for Christmas and then the Crutchfield catalog shows up with Kef LS50s on the cover and my wife goes "those look neat, I wonder what they sound like". This is after years of me wanting to hear how other speakers sounded and her always saying "We have good speakers". Then today we were at BestBuy and they had the LS50 Wireless II ones out, I paired them with my phone and played a variety of music and her comment was "those sound really good". In the alternate reality we were now in I countered with "but they are $2000" and her argument was "but they sound really good". We didn't get them but they are much more of a maybe than I thought they'd be.

I got this 20+ year old Cambridge Soundworks CD740 for a song because the CD wasn't working. Installed a new laser pickup, and while I was at it, relocated the clock backup battery to a location which doesn't require removing ~40 screws and undoing a number of soldered connections. Works great now!

Nice little unit. Well done on the battery re-location too. :)
