That's nice, I prefer STFU..In our profession we say "zip up the bag"![]()

Must likely because enough folks complained to the admins. Both ways.Any indication on why it was gone, or why it's back?
It is important to see if one can explain what we believe to non-believers. It sharpens one's skills and arguments and even forces unearthing new data points.I would like to suggest that it is not a good use of your time and effort to post there ...
Is there an ASR manifesto somewhere that sets out the basic philosophy? (I'm not finding one ...) That might forestall the need for 100+ replies ...It is important to see if one can explain what we believe to non-believers.
Sort of;Is there an ASR manifesto somewhere that sets out the basic philosophy?
I'd counter this is not "belief"... measurements are facts proving and providing a working and repeatable model. It is important to see if one can explain what we believe to non-believers. It sharpens one's skills and arguments and even forces unearthing new data points.
Further, on any forum, there is a 20:1 ratio of those who just read vs those who post. Many of those people are interested and will get something out of the argument.
In my TODO list is an FAQ that would cover all of these common questions. I need to block the time and get it done.Is there an ASR manifesto somewhere that sets out the basic philosophy? (I'm not finding one ...) That might forestall the need for 100+ replies ...
It might be counter intuitive but it is a belief, though based on a body of evidence, the humility of the scientific process is to aknowledge that, and always let a little door open for a change of theory.I'd counter this is not "belief"... measurements are facts proving and providing a working and repeatable model.
"Belief" precedes that until the believer provides a new repeatable, working model.
Their belief is that science & engineering is not good enough to explain what they perceive. Ours is that it is and that they are not performing their listening tests correctly. This is what I meant by that word.I'd counter this is not "belief"... measurements are facts proving and providing a working and repeatable model.

I think the other side will see this in a similar way as disrespectful that somebody comes in, and in a calm, measured, and thoughtful way dismantles what they think is reality.I’m not a fan of people calling out guys who back up all of their assertions with scientific proof as Amir does routinely. It’s disrespectful and I don’t think it’s worthy of a response.
I'd postulate that all of the nonsense about audio that many still believe was invented by the audio magazines from the 1980s on. Way before internet forums. It is important to see if one can explain what we believe to non-believers. It sharpens one's skills and arguments and even forces unearthing new data points.

Sure, no argument there. But the whole thing already started just because ASR exists. So yeah, one could blame Amir for starting the feudThe OP in that thread specifically mentioned and criticised @Amir and ASR. That - by my reckoning - is an invitation to step in and set the record straight. If the forum doesn't like this - then tough - they should have deleted the OP from the start.
