Occasional Muffled Speaker "Pop"

I have a new set of speakers (Polk Reserve R-600) and a new integrated amp (Yamaha AS-701). I use a Wiim Pro Plus to stream Tidal and TV audio (RCA from Wiim to Line In). Since I've been using the new speakers/amp- I hear an occasional muffled 'pop' through the speakers- and can't identify anything that might be causing it. It can happen when the amp is "off/standby" mode (most noticeable, as the system is 'silent') or it can happen when I'm actively listening. It isn't happening a lot- and it isn't a big 'pop'- but it is noticeable when it does occur. I'm not sure what the cause could be- or if it is something I need to be concerned about. It's not caused by input changes. Any thoughts?? Thanks in advance.

My system sometimes does this; particularly in dry, winter weather. If it bothers you, try spraying some static remover on your speaker cable and surrounding carpet. Doesn't need to be "audiophile" grade; the stuff you can get at supermarket is fine.

Interesting...thanks for the response and advice- I certainly wouldn't have thought of that. It isn't loud and doesn't sound destructive- but I never had a similar issue with my previous system (Emotiva TA-1 amp and T-0+ speakers).

You might also try inserting shorting caps in any unused inputs on receiver rear panel. I did this, but don't recall if it made much difference as it was years ago.

What if you disable the auxiliary PSU with the switch at the back plate ?

It might be a glitch on the power line, like when your refrigerator cycles on & off, etc. Probably the easiest way to check that is to plug a lamp into the same socket and see if it dims or flickers. If it comes from both speakers it's likely related to power or the power supply.

You can also try disconnecting everything from the amplifier's inputs to determine if it's coming from the amplifier itself. (I suspect so since it's happening in standby.)

If it's a power line glitch, a "simple" power line conditioner/filter probably won't help. :(

I hadn't considered the aux PSU switch- I think I'll give that a try to see if it eliminates the issue. Thank you

Interesting- thanks...never had this issue from that outlet previously. I've always had my components routed through the same socket. I appreciate all the suggestions. I'll start with the aux PSU switch and move through other suggestions if the issue isn't eliminated. It's not a huge problem- but nice to have some avenues to try and resolve it. I appreciate you all.

small sample size- but since disabling the PSU switch I haven't heard the infamous random 'pop'...hopefully that holds true moving forward- and is a help to anyone with an AS-701 that might be experiencing similar issues...thanks, @dedobot
