I also respect that you don’t want to spread incorrect information, and will make the effort to revise as such.

Try not to take (constructive) criticism as a personal affront, but rather as a way to improve. It seems you have that covered, and I appreciate the way you went about it

There’s no hostility expressed here. But the initial post contains a lot of mistakes. It looks to be well constructed with lots of information and references, so it could be perceived as an authoritative resource. But it’s not. It needs a full update/rewrite which the OP is only considering.
So the “standard reader” will go through it and probably not the rest of the comments, and will only get a lot of erroneous information.
