If i have money for a 1400 USB cable, id also pay for the installation service and hopefully show off the house or the equipment to that person etc. Too bad I'm not that person.

I wonder if it actually passes all tests to meet the USB 2.0 spec? After seeing Linus Tech Tips show that several HDMI cables didn't pass some HDMI specs, I am starting to question cables even more! Thanks for once again saving folks money!

USB 2.0 is a pretty basic spec that's been around for over 20 years. It's quite a bit simpler than HDMI and also not expected to operate at lengths greater than 2 metres. It'd be very surprising if this cable wasn't "up to spec".

Doesn't matter much either way as the cable is exactly as functional as one would expect it to be.

It is a mixed thing. I get a lot of hate messages elsewhere and even here at times. I am also disappointed when I can't find anything different despite trying different methods/angles to measure them.

But sure, at some level making sure people know that objectively these things are a waste of money feels satisfying as well.
I laughed at your wife pulling that old joke on you... or trying. Give her back the chip... let her try again when you're testing speakers. Funny bit.

USB 2.0 is good to ~5m or so'ish. :D

There‘s only one thing left to do, book a room at some high end audio show and set up a blind study/swap with a cheap hifi setup of topping/schiit etc and expensive but measurably excellent hifi behind a curtain with only the speakers on show and seat the audiphoo believers in front, you can play the wizard of oz behind the curtain swapping cables from a range of manufacturers/Amazon basics and the audiophools can decide what sounds best.

I’d donate $50 to see and read of such an experiment, dunno quite how much it would cost for room though.

If i was doing it I’d be lazy and get into lounge mode behind the curtain with a decent bottle of red, perhaps an edible and just leave the amazon basic in all the time and just give the impression of swapping.

“For comparison, I chose to use my usual 6 foot Amazon Basics USB cable. I really like this cable due to its flexibility and durability having been plugged in and unplugged probably 1000 times in my system as I test various USB device.”
So you compared using a cable that had already been broken in and expected a cold cable that needs 10,000 hours of break-in to beat it. A pox on you!

I think at this stage we all know that cd transports are all the same, and digital cables are all the same, power cords make no difference, power conditioners make no difference, speaker cables make marginal to no difference. Given the choice I would rather your valuable testing time was spent on measuring things worth measuring like speakers, headphones, etc.

I think it's disgusting that snake oil products like this exist, with all the unsubstantiated claims of improvements, and even worse that there are idiots who buy them. But 100 percent those folk are not your audience.
measuring things worth measuring like speakers,... Absolutely

I am also disappointed when I can't find anything different despite trying different methods/angles to measure them.
Why? Could this mean that at some level, despite all your engineering expertise, you desire and seek the outcome that different (properly functioning) USB cables have different intrinsic sonic qualities?

Well, the jacket and plugs on the Tyr-2's look just so bitchin' I just have to have 'em. ;)

And I'm certain, I'll be able to hear the dramatic audio difference! My system will be able to breathe now, even if my bank account won't.

And take note. Did Nordost just sit on their duffs when they made the world's finest USB cable, the Tyr-1's?

Hell no, they didn't settle. They said "we can do better!"

And so they have! That's why they were able to give the world the Tyr-2.

Bravo, Nordost! Well done, sirs!

And all for only the price of an Octo DAC 8 Pro, or a VTV Purifi Amp, or a pair of LS 50 Metas, or a miniDSP SHD. or a pair of Revel 105's, or an LG C1, or an Intel NUC I7, or an SVS SB 3000.

A true bargain!
That’s it, I need you on my First Run Copper team.

You mean I waxed the AP USB cable for hours for nothing? I thought for sure it would speed up the transmission of electrons within it....
You obviously used the wrong kind of wax :-) I have this special can I've developed specifically to improve electron transmissivity.

Tell that to my printer that refuses to operate with any USB 2 cable longer than 24".
I've been very lucky on printers other than 3 bubble jet models that gulped ink like it was B52 shooters. I use this cable for all my USB printing stuff at 15 feet and it always works with a all-in-one Canon laser printer. I've read and heard how some peeps get finicky printers and bad USB connections so I'm not surprised. I've had good success with the Startech brand @ reasonable prices.

Obviously to dispel myths like this;
USB cables have different intrinsic sonic qualities

Audio cable makers hate Amir. But I love you. We love you. Long live ASR.
That’s a lie. First Run Copper has a $1,000,000 challenge out that Amir refuses to accept. It’s at the bottom of their website, but no cable denier has been willing to take the challenge. FirstRunCopper.com

I don't think that answers the question I asked. But maybe I wasn't clear. Let me try it like this:

How come Amir, the specific person that we have come to know and love here at this forum, finds himself disappointed when he can't find anything different despite trying different methods/angles to measure them?

Dispelling myths like those you linked is one thing but I don't think that's the same thing. Disappointment implies a thwarted desire. I'm interested in that desire, or initial state that makes becoming disappointed a possibility.

I actually looked, shame on me.

Seems like all you have to do is:
1. Have > 20,000 YT subscribers
2. Post a video saying that First Run Copper cables are not the best you’ve heard
3. Collect $1,000,000

Seems legit…

Not sonic quality but measurement difference. In the past for example I have found high-end interconnects to pick up more noise than cheap generic ones.
