Nobsound 3-IN-1-OUT XLR Audio Switch Review

That's a good solution.

And you can power off preamp 2. It won't sound better, this is a myth. Especially if it gets hot inside leaving it on 24/7 will reduce its lifetime.
I just tested it, both scenarios work like a charm. Preamp2 (Model: Classé Audio six) doesn't have a power on/off button, the only way to power it off is to unplug it.
Thanks again for your help.

Dear All,
Out of interest, when using the 3 in 3 out version, does it matter where in the chain I put it.
Is it better to use DAC --> Switch to x2 preamps or is it designed to come after the preamp and go to x2 amplifiers or does it not even matter?
I have x2 XLR input amps and x1 RCA amp and x2 preamps.
Can I just connect them all up and route stuff as I need?

They can actually be used as 3 in 1 out or 3 out 1 in. You'd need to keep it clear which way you are using it. I'm a little unclear how you wish to use it perhaps you could clarify some of the details. Also, maybe I missed it, could you post a link to a 3 in 3 out version?

Ideally I'd like to use it as follows:
In 1: XLR (DAC1-->) Preamp 1---> Out 1 XLR ---> Amplifier 1
Out 2 XLR --->Amplifier 2

In: RCA DAC1 RCA out ---> Out 3 RCA Preamp 2

I would like to use the same DAC to feed 2 preamps 1 XLR base and 1 RCA to 3 amplifiers.
:)

If I haven't overlooked anything, that should do the trick for you. I would say you likely need to keep the RCA outputs short as going from XLR to RCA might cause some noise pickup while going the other direction is less likely to do so.

There might be a problem depending on the internal wiring from XLR in to RCA out depending on the type of output. if the switch shorts the neg. input to GND the source output may distort (transformerless), without the short the source may be silent (with transformer).

Its always XLR in XLR out or RCA in RCA out. The amps are either balanced (XLR) or RCA only so no crossing.
