No love for desktop speakers on ASR?

As for desktop, I just got bookshelf speakers, speaker stands, and a small amp.

C) I am an idiot, Learn use the search function properly.

If I am not misunderstanding what you mean by desktop speakers, but I assume the Edifier MR5 would be included:

Go to the review index.
Click on speakers
Search for "Monitor"
Sort by price ascending. There are loads of them:

(EDIT - if you want non powered speakers search for "bookshelf" instead of "monitor" there's even more of them)

What is the current forum "darling" with regards to a desktop setup?

I have a large standing desk (1.8m) And would need the speakers to sit on the desktop (hense the OP)

I don't think there is one. Probably two low a percentage of members who's main system is desktop.

Genelecs are highly regarded, and some of the smaller models are suitable for desktop use - but they come with a hefty price tag.

There's one other thing: The analog Genelecs below 8040 (i.e. 8010, 8020, 8030) don't have toroid transformers anymore, but SMPSs instead. I don't know what that does to the service life. I do know that my RME converter is now on his third SMPS, and our Genelecs run like new after 20 years in basically non-stop use.

Additionally, the 8020 and 8030 have had volume pots in earlier times, which are nigh indispensable when you attach a contemporaneous DAC with 4 Vrms output because the monitors expect -6 dBu input.

I had some KH80DSP which worked very well on the desk but these have moved on. The Genelec 8331 or 8341 would seem to be idea (coaxial, no noise) but I have wondered how the Ascilab F6B / C6B / S6B would perform on a desk.

Hivi's Swan speakers had a pretty good reputation for desktop powered speakers a long time ago but not sure how they compare now as things have improved over the years.
