I recently opened a Tidal account.
I use a the Tidal player in a Windows 11 laptop.
The problem is: no gapless play. (Pink Floyd: The dark side of the moon - Richard Strauss: Eine Alpensinfonie)
I tried also with an Android phone: same problem.
Is it me or a generalized issue?

Dont use windows but just tried on Tidal app for Android.

Darkside seems gapless to me though I dont know the album well. Apparently you need to be on "Max" or "High" playback setting. Low apparently doesnt do gapless.

Download the Tidal app from the Microsoft Store and use that instead of the web-based player, and you will have gapless play.

I applied to Tidal about the issue.
At first they asked for more details.
Afterwards they replied with an unsatisfactory answer:
"After a thorough investigation, our team has determined that gapless playback is dependent on the audio files provided by distributors. Since this isn't a technical issue on our end, no further investigation is needed at this time. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention and value your feedback."
Then I replied with this link.
They replied again with the same first answer.
But.....
They updated the Windows player (on 2024.10.16) and now it plays gapless.
Interesting why the did not accept their error?
Maybe they are afraid to be sued?

Which is a statement that isn’t completely incorrect, as gapless playback is depending on the audio files. Though not only on them. But Tidal didn’t claim that either

It's still not clear to me what player you use. Is it the Tidal app you download from the Microsoft Store, or is the Web Player using your web browser (Chrome/Firefox/Edge)?

The Tidal app has always had gapless play in my system, while the Web Player using Chrome has never had gapless play and still doesn't.
The problem with no gapless play using the Web Player is not a Tidal fault, it's a web browser fault (at least with Chrome) as the browser doesn't have the function to buffer the next track before the playing track has ended, hence the short gap between the songs.

So if your problem of having no gapless play was with the Tidal app, the problem must have been locally in your system as gapless play has always worked using the Tidal app. But if you use the Web Player and the problem is now solved, I like to know which web browser you are using as it's still not working with Chrome.

I thought I was clear, but not enough. I wrote "Tidal player" (software downloaded from Microsoft Store) and not "web player"
And did not played gapless, (in High mode that use *.flac) , but the Spotify Windows player yes played gapless.
Now Tidal is playing gapless OK. I saw there was a program update on 2024-10-16.

1- mp3 files add silence between tracks, but there are software that overcame this.
2- flac files do not add silence between tracks.
3- I was listening in High mode that use flac.
4- you can find a more explicit and better info about gapless files and players in the Wikipedia link I pointed:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gapless_playback
5- gapless is not for most music. Is for examples like this:
https://tidal.com/browse/album/282969515
13 interruptions in a 52 minutes track - is like going back 100 years in the time of the "ALBUMS" of 78 RPM discs.
