NiceHCK Octave dongle DAC

Marketing people forgot to add 2 bands and forgot to specify them as parametric EQ....
Lol
Yes it seems like its fixed band. But I hope not

It is parametric EQ, as shown on the video before, and I have asked their chat on AliExpress before they confirmed it is parametric EQ indeed.

Yes, it's the TTGK TT39039F01 PRO MAX, supports 10-band PEQ.
The one I have is FW V0.8, and it's very buggy.
- No volume memory and the default is MAX. (Fixed in FW V0.9 update via the WalkPlay app)
- Popping sounds when changing songs / PCM / DSD.
- Sometimes when starting a song, it stutters and I have to restart the song

Up to 2000mw(2w) output power?!!?!?

How???

Maybe it's that thing where Chinese law allows them to specify the power up to THD+N=10%(!!), but when marketing it as the NiceHCK they're posting the lower-distortion spec of 550 mW (BAL), which they probably know is what's expected outside China.

Got my Octave today. My WalkPlay is the lastest version 2.2.7 and does not recognize the device, says unauthorized device, limited use. The official NiceHCK app works fine for me.

As far as I could test the LED is red for 16/44 up to 24/48, and blue for 24/96 and 24/192.

Same.
WalkPlay sometimes works, sometimes doesn't work.
YUANDAO always works but has few functions.
TTGK Station can view detailed information but does not show FW version.

Is there an equivalent IOS app?

I don't have any information about the iOS app.

For the past few days, it seems like only the Nicehck app works.
WalkPlay app is no longer allowed to work with Octave on both Android and PC.

I am very happy with my Octave, both sound and usability. App is simple but functional. The only thing I wish is that the grey color would not be slightly purple as it is. Looked normal grey on the photos but not so in real life.

Is there a way to actually change the PEQ frequency on the official app? I can see only gain and Q on predefined frequencies, and overall gain slider.

Tap on the Hz number, a pop-up will appear to enter the Hz number.

Yes, in the bottom half, you are right. I was trying on the top portion. Thanks!

It’s possible that, at NiceHCK’s request, TTGK deleted the Octave project from the Walkplay server, which caused Walkplay to lose connection. I modified the Walkplay app so that when it detects “Octave,” it automatically maps it to the corresponding public version TT39039F01 ProMax:
Google Drive

(You’ll need to uninstall the original app first. It’s normal if the app crashes the first time you open it — it will work fine from the second launch onward. Due to how Walkplay works, it cannot read EQ configurations written by the NiceHCK app, but it can correctly write EQ data to the device or read EQ written by Walkplay. All other configurations work normally. If you’re concerned about potential malicious code, I can provide the source code for the Hook module.)

Octave FW V1.3 [2025.10.14]:
This update resolves stuttering, compatibility, and loud pop issues.
Reconstruct the underlying logic and restructure it.

Based on my interpretation of the description, and of the wavelength graphic presented, The 2nd filter option (Fast-PC) appears to correspond to the generally accepted best filter option on the Topping D50 iii (also using the ES 9039Q2M) , Setting 3 (Mode 3: Linear phase fast roll-off), based on wavelength images derived from this thread (https://www.audiosciencereview.com/...ng-d50-iii-dac-review-and-measurements.53749/) and Amir's review (https://www.audiosciencereview.com/...ng-d50-iii-balanced-dac-with-eq-review.53856/).

In case you are wondering you will need the hacked version of WalkPlay mentioned by myo220 in order to change the filter type as of this posting.

I also own the D50 iii and A50 iii, and you can get a nearly identical sound signature from the Octave with these settings, albeit scaled a bit differently. (A50 iii produces enough power to fill a football stadium even at 1/3 volume, while Octave will produce a sound sufficient for a small room or any headphones). Now I'm not saying Topping using using SGM 8262 op-amps (wink wink), but this is like a budget man's Topping D50iii/a50iii combo - recommended. You will especially like this product if you use lower impedance headphones that are easily overpowered by the higher end high-powered HPAs intended for state of the art planar headphones.

My only gripe is wanting a patch allowing UAC 1.0 mode to use on my PS5, but maybe its coming considering the active state of development.

I've suggested to NiceHCK about implementing UAC 1.0 compatibility.
It seems to have preliminary support built in similar to other TTGK dongles, where holding both the + and - volume buttons would revert to UAC 1.0, as upon inserting the plug causes the indicator light to blink red, but there seems to be no effect from this despite the blinking.

Does anyone know how much power balanced into 300 ohms at the knee of THD+N?
