These are the Micro Seiki MA 101 - I hate to say it, but it sort of is/was a sleeper arm - that's the anti-slate adjustment dial. There's a spring to the left, and a string that connects to the dial. I have three, now - my first was supposed to go onto my AR ES-1, but then a client came - with a bad Grace arm, he wanted to put a used Rega on it. I talked him into the Micro Seiki. Turned out fantastic. Which made me buy another. That one had some vertical bearing issues, so I bought another. Now, these are climbing in price, I found a third one for the previous cost. Bought that. Fixed the guys Grace, and he was kind enough to gift it to me. Getting pricey to pick up good specimen now.

Never seen one of those beasts in real life, and even if I had, no way I could've afforded it in the early 1980s But man, what a tinkerer's dream it must be! Looks like a Jelco / Premier MMT arm in the background, kinda blows my mind to think they were once common and relatively affordable.

Ahh, the Linn LP12: I kinda miss my 3(!) sometimes, though I hated the fussiness of transporting the things. Grooved African teak base is classic, and you can't buy them new anymore.

It came out around 1976 as the flagship from Micro-Seiki. When I bought it, it was in rough shape. Here's what's been done:

• Cleaned and oiled the main bearing and replaced the worn thrust pads with Teflon
• Replaced electrolytics
• Replaced the speed control pots and trimmers with precision ones
• Added Dynamat to the inside of the base
• Replaced the rotted footers with Sorbothane hemispheres
• Had the platter professionally polished and lacquered
• Made a platform for the little VPI box to sit on

I just ran the Android W&F app and it pulled these numbers.

I've a MAX-237 and MAX-282 on my TX-1000. Seemed suiting. Really wanted a DA-1000 for the DP-100. Passed one up years ago that came with the armboard.
