Nice turntables. Attached picture is an absolute requirement.

Did someone mention, Linear Tracking Tonearm's?

Machined and modded tons of pivoted arms in the 70's and 80's then made a few dozen of these Air Bearing tonearms.

Made my daily driver table/arm still in use today in 1997, Just a little ahead of our time...

Holy cow is that first photo turntable ever a beauty!! I’ve always loved copper for the platter. Amazing work.

Looks kind of minimalistic. Together with the unit’s weight of only 5.5 kg it makes me wonder if a price of > 1K could easily be justified.
Doesn't seem to have sold well as a Rekkord product, or in an earlier incarnation as Dual CS800. Currently selling in the USA for $800 by VANA Ltd, which includes tax and shipping. I don't think weight is the issue so much as some small but highly visible design shortcuts. As a DIYer, I can transform the turntable into the product it should have always been, but I think the average hobbyist would simply demand a refund.

Shinola is no longer making these in Detroit. We went to two of their shops and this was the only one on display - nfs.
I made a special trip to a Shinola showroom to check it out when it was still a current offering, and I was not disappointed. Sonically, I have no idea, would assume it's decent: I was drawn to that big, chunky power switch, and it delivered the tactile goods.

Hi all, newbie here. This is my DDX-1000 with a VPI JMW9 Memorial Signature, Jelco SA370H, and SME 3009 Series II Improved.

Welcome to the fourum.

Nice set up.

Personally I would call it total overkill - but just ignore me :p

I mostly use streaming, though since my (new) record collection expanded from 3 to 10+ I decided to replace the previous black plastic 80s model (was a really decent Sansui none the less) with this CEC BD1000 for a really good price, that looks in my opinion better with the loudspeakers and au505 amp. I should perhaps have it fine tuned and replace the suspension foam at some point (if there is any), but it works above expectations. Great sound as well.

CEC made the turntables for a lot of better Japanese brands.

Rick "and very nice modern CD mechanisms" Denney

You should get an SR-929 to match the amp...

That looks like a great turntable

But optically / technically it is probably more something that would match to one of those later Sansui alpha series of amps. :)

shopping

If it would be a Sansui to pick from to match, I would most likely for something similar to this CEC.

almost the same

Well when you have 3 rare armboards you might as well use them. When folks ask me why 3 arms, my answer is because it can't accept 4 :)

For me, adding additional arms would increase “ the tyranny of choice” that I’m trying to somewhat escape with vinyl :-)

(of course I just do it my own way since I have several speakers to listen to)
