Here’s our passive 5.1 tv video system powered without a traditional AVR. Instead, I’m using a MiniDSP HT Flex, DiracLive, Buckeye 6ch NC500 amp, Apple TV, HD Fury VRROOM and a Sony A90J 70”. It even does Atmos music. The fronts are all Philharmonic Audio HT Towers and Center. The rears in the ceiling are KEF Ci200QR. Subwoofer is a Rythmik 15” that can't quite pressurize the room but puts out ample bass.

Next step is to add an in-ceiling 5.1.2 height speakers and upgrade the HTx to the new TIDE16.

This system is so loud. The HT Towers are 91db sensitivity and being fed 500w. Overall, the tone is clean and neutral with a huge soundstage. There’s a good deal of pleasant reverberance from the wide directivity towers. Sound images within the sound stage are not as distinct and precise as my narrower dispersion coaxials.

The decoupling plate is an e

The "decoupling plate" is just an experiment that has more of a practical and estehtical purpose and its an excersice in working with wood and other materials. So the dampening is to not create a problem more than to solve something. What set it of is the fastening for the RAM-mounted Clarity-M metering monitor. I have gotten into some problems though. The "plate" or shelf(a better word) warps a bit too much, and I suspect its the heat from ADI-2 PRO that does that. Its quite pronounced with a difference of maybe 4mm over 70cm. I considering some iron t-bar frame underneath. I always wanted to learn welding so.. Its my chance now!

Like your pictures. Im born in the 70´s so I know what cassette players look like inside. I used to take them apart and give them some alkohol rub cleaning. Part audiophile, part watchmaker :D Theres no mechanics in audio anymore, only printboards, and thats kinda sad :( So I like your project! A daunting task it was, remembering where all those screws and belts should go :) I didnt have SONY ES excellency though, more like those mono cassette recorders. And walkmans ofcourse.

Complicated this is! What’s the deal with all these vu meters?

My first ''high end'' purchase has been made. After a good year of putting money aside and 3 months of going back and forth between shops.
Kef R7 Meta's with matching center. A bit overkill for my situation now, but I hope they will grow with my set up over the years.
Also the first new audio thing I've bought as all my previous items were second hand :).

Congratulations they will serve you well!

Nice looking setup, but it's the dog that really steals the show!

Thank you for your kind attention and interests on my PC-DSP-based multichannel multi-SP-driver multi-amplifier full-active stereo audio setup. and the 12-VU-Meter Array thereof.

- My nostalgia and preference for large glass-face VU meters: DIY of 12-VU-Meter Array in multichannel multi-driver multi-way multi-amplifier stereo audio system: #535

Please find the latest system setup in these posts on my project thread;
- The latest system setup of my DSP-based multichannel multi-SP-driver multi-amplifier fully active audio rig, including updated startup/ignition sequences and shutdown sequences: as of June 26, 2024: #931

- The latest Fq-SPL (re-confirmation) of multiple amplifiers SP high-level output signals and that of room air sound at listening position: all measured by “FFT averaging of recorded cumulative DSP-processed flat white noise” (as of June 8, 2025): #1,009

And, also;

- Updated VB-AUDIO MATRIX (1.0.2.5) in my main multichannel multi-SP-driver multi-amplifier fully active audio rig; together with updated JRiver MC35 (35.0.29) and updated DSP “EKIO” (1.0.8.2): #1,022

Furthermore, you can find here and here the Hyperlink Index for my project thread. :)
