Newb's experiences with Minidsp Flex Dirac Live

Its just the additional step of channel routing right? I had no trouble going from the Flex to the HT Flex for 2.1 channel. Was very intuitive.

Multi channel is harder.
Heh, I’m somewhat losing track of this discussion, but yes, the HT adds the additional steps of bass management and «chain routing». This will give you the choice of applying a Dirac filter separately on the sub. Is this a meaningful difference for 2.1 channel? I would say no. You would have to do the same amount of work to integrate the sub with the mains anyway.

I am curious why you are so argumentative about this. I was referring to this step in the Minidsp manual that I cited. Do you find 'smooth out' an incorrect or 'very different' paraphrase of 'flatten'?

"Use the REW Auto-EQ feature to flatten the subwoofer response around the crossover region. For information on how to do this, see the app note Auto EQ with Room EQ Wizard. Be sure to choose the correct Equalizer option (and therefore sample rate) for your processor.

There is no need to get the response exactly flat, as an additional step later will perform additional correction. The purpose here is just to get a clean crossover to the speakers."

I think the OP was precisely referring to this step which is why I brought it up.
I’m pretty sure that part of the manual/article/guide is specifically for using REW. You don’t have to do this with Dirac. The only thing needed is level matching the sub and the speakers and if you want to add a delay.
