Hey folks!

Just registered, and first post... Kindly go easy in me :).

I received and put together in not quite a stylish way the P50 with the D50iii+A50iii - got all three in less than 24 hours. Here is my what my temporary set up looks like:

The other pieces there (Apple dongle, Fiio KA 11 and 17, also recent purchases with the Fiios for mobile and office use respectively) should tell you loud and clear that I am just starting my DAC/Headphone amp journey...

I did a good deal of reading today, and I think I get the nuances about linear versus switching power supplies and their debatable impact on sound. I gotta say, while quite convenient, the P50 did not impress me much with its rather hot temperature when the stack is running at modest levels with my Sennheiser HD 650...

Like I said, this is my first post, and although I did several searches to get to the bottom of the verdict on the Topping P50, I could not find anything 'definitive'. I am inclined to keep it, since I am likely to soon take this new stack to our living room to integrate with my integrated amp and speakers, and there, the P50 will help keep things tidy. But at the amazon /Canada price I paid, I am hesitating a little, especially after 'feeling' how hot it runs... I happen to dislike wall warts quite a bit too...

Did I buy into a bit of Topping snake oil, or is this a decent linear power supply?

Cheers!

I bought the P50 to have neater connections ie my M50, D50s and A50s are connected by short cables to the P50 which in turn is connected to the wall socket.

It will keep power cabling a bit neater. If that matters then it won't hurt to keep it. It won't make any difference if you take it out (and sell it).
