Newbie, 2nd coming....

Hello everyone.
I've rejoined - I gave up on the site, having been on it for a while, owing to me having a low tolerance to pretentiousness, "swagger", US-centricity and, frankly too many adjectives that serve no purpose for audio...
The site appears to not have got any worse, which is a good thing, bar more trolls and baiters (sic.) perhaps.
I'll try not to upset anyone - but I'm from the UK, and we have a certain turn of phrase here.
I'm retired but spent a life in engineering (electronics degree, software engineer, then finishing as Snr VP of Engineering making cool kit) - this does not mean I know what I'm talking about, but it has given me a scepticism for when things get wishy-washy or ethereal.
I play a lot of music, go out to see bands, play guitar, and like to keep things simple.

And may I ask - is there anyone on here living in the far west of loverly (sic.) Cornwall?
And of that group (of 2 or 3?) who goes to the wunnerful (sic.) Acorn Theatre for live bands?
