So here is a successor of Wondom JAB5/Dayton KABD4100, this time with stronger amps, PFFB and swappable DSP modules (comes with ADAU1701 included, ADAU1452 will be available in the future). Wondom claims it's a "game changer", but there are some things unclear to me, and I hope you can help me figure them out. I've sent these questions to Wondom, if they respond I'll post it here.

According to diagram below, channels 1 & 2 use higher quality DAC (ES9018K2M), while channels 3 & 4 use DAC integrated in ADAU1701. Do you think it would be possible to bypass 1701 DAC in channels 3 & 4 and use external DAC module? I'd like to have good quality DACs on all 4 channels, not only half of them, this feature is crucial for me. They did it to lower the costs, or due to lack of space? I wonder how will it work after upgrading to ADAU1452, as it doesn't have integrated DAC.

There is a suggestion on their website, that "for tweeter drive applications, link the JAB6 unit to a DIPO I2S amplifier board via the I2S bus, then route tweeter signals through the DIPO board".
I assume it's because gain staging a 300 W amp can be problematic for tweeters, but wouldn't it be enough to set the gain very low in DSP and use some protective capacitors? I'm building a 2-way system, so it would be nice to use TPA3255 with PFFB on all drivers without the need of some external modules (these amplifier for tweeters reccomended by them doesn't have PFFB).

Also which power supply would you recommend for this board? Someone in the comments wrote that Mean Well LRS series produce audible noise and LOP-300-48 will work better. Anyone tried it, and do these LRS really produce noise?

Here are answers from Wondom if someone is interested:

The MAT ADAU1452 will pair with a dedicated matching DAC board, enabling independent DAC operation for all four channels. This module is scheduled for release by the end of September.

We do not recommend driving tweeters directly with the JAB6 due to its high output power. Tweeters typically have high sensitivity, and excessive power can cause speaker damage. For tweeter applications, the DIPO I2S amplifier is preferred: its digital signal transmission and lower output power deliver solid audio performance while safeguarding your tweeters.

So for 2-way spekares I need external amps for tweeters, and than would it be better to use 2 x 300W for woofers and leave other 2 unused, or combine them and use 2 x 600W for woofers? Will this excessive power contribute to lowering distortion and provide better control of woofers?

Wondom is playing it safe in case someone makes a mistake. In that case they don't want bad PR for blowing up someone's tweeters. There's really no reason you can't attenuate the tweeter level in the ADAU1452 SigmaStudio project and use a protection cap on the tweeter. It will be interesting to see how well Wondom designed this board to prevent turn on/off thumps.

Will this excessive power contribute to lowering distortion and provide better control of woofers?
Not primarily, it will let you play the woofer 3dB louder... If your woofer can handle more than 300w this can be valuable, if not there won't be a benefit. The distortion from these pffb units should be low, but if you are running one channel into high distortion, bridging could bring it down also. Overall 600w for one midwoofer is a lot, what driver do you have in mind?

I’ve been using a Jab6 to drive the woofers and mids in a pair of old B&W 801s and the sound is good (but I have no test eqt so 100% unblind subjective impression only). The fan kicks in even at modest volumes. It is noiseless but I wonder if that will change over time. The heatsink wraps round the electrolytic caps so I wonder about their shelf life too. Zero turn on/off thumps or clicks. I’ve yet to explore its I2S functions. For $115 it seems to be a bargain so far.
