New Wilson Audio flagship speakers

Another monstrosity from Wilson Audio with speaker drivers that cost about 1% of the MSRP and a nonsensical design.

The ludicrous price is emblematic of everything that company offers.

Take a baseline Corvette, strap a bunch of crap on it that looks terrible & degrades its performance and charge $10M for it: that will be Wilson’s first automobile.

I can’t afford them, but I like them nonetheless. Very industrial, mechanical look to them. I’m sure they sound great too. Not my color though.
 
This concept of allowing the customer to adjust the placement of drivers is quite fascinating, and cool mechanics with the gears and stuff. But I'm curious how a typical customer is supposed to be able to set this "correctly", to the extent there is such a position.
Most customers don't touch the adjustments. When we install these speakers, we set them up and calibrate them.

I was initially shocked by the price but then read carefully that it refers to a pair...

Thanks for being honest even though everyone is dunking on the looks. They are not my cup of tea but I don't think their strategy of making them look a bit extreme (putting it politely) is wrong.

In a competitive market, the big risk is not that some people will hate your design and you lose those sales. The risk is that nobody loves it and you get NO sales. So a love-it-or-hate-it approach works as long as at least a few people love it.

At $800k if 1% of people think it looks amazing, (and 99% wince at the sight of it,) that can be enough...

It may find buyers in the Middle East, the PRC, and Southeast Asia.

Outside of those places, I doubt Michael Fremer's bank will lend him enough money to buy a pair.
