How long does Genelec usually keep models in production before releasing a new/updated version? Would a 8361B or 8351C be possible sometime in the future?

The 8361A replaced the 8260A which was around from 2010 - 2019. I would imagine there would be either an upgraded version or replacement model at some point.

I can't imagine it would be soon. Genelec isn't the kind of company to update things willy-nilly.

Genelec will only make real upgrades, so they probably will make a new model every 8-10 years.

If it was a hifi brand, it would have had newer versions with beryllium tweeters so that they could make more money. Or new internal wiring….

See, these audiophool brands will do anything the believers believe to make a change. Other binding posts, continuous stream of improved drivers, new filters, etc. leading to new versions each 2-3 years.

GLM is updated often and if anything would be updated that's DSP part like with switch from 82xx to 83xx, but besides that... it should be really big. 8xxx monitors is around 20 years now, stronger than ever and I don't see them going away anytime soon.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. What are you looking for in an updated version that doesn't already exist?
So, according to you, The Ones are already absolutely perfect in their market segment?

1. I’m not sure where you have inferred that I think Genelec are absolutely perfect in their market segment. This isn’t what I said.
2. I asked the OP what he or she is looking for that Genelec don’t currently offer.

I can only use The Ones due to size constraints in my small room. That's why I was asking if any replacements for The Ones are due soon.

I still am not sure why? What updates do you want?

I've read multiple posts stating how the Main Monitors line sounds better than The Ones. I can't use the Main Monitors line of speakers due to size constraints. Wanted to see if Genelec could address this in the replacement of The Ones while keeping their size.

People likely prefer them due to the larger size and higher SPL capabilities. The SQ of the ones is excellent and would take a lot to improve. I don’t think Genelec have anything to ‘address’.

there was only one change in the whole lineup and it was right at the beginning, they improved midrange and amps since the first 8351A came out (which introduced the whole concept), so only 8351 got a "B" revision, all the rest is on the "A" model and I wouldn't expect any changes soon, nor there are any rumours about it.
Posts stating that main monitors sound better while being actually older and less recently updated are just purely subjective opinions not backed by blind testing or data, but regardless, they are meant for different installation type, so one is not a replacement of the other. If you care about random people subjective opinions, count me as the guy who prefer the Ones line (but with W371A) to the mains, I used and owned them both.

Maybe cardioid capability for the Ones (without using the W371)?

Yeah, that would be a step up, but also expensive.

Thats the other area they could improve, cheaper production and distribution costs- cheaper Ones

Not really. Genelec is running into physics limitations with regard to driver size and box volume.

The 1237A has roughly the same LFX as the 8361A, and exceeds its SPL capabilities. It also has a substantially larger cabinet, likely an internal volume of around 55L - where the 8361 is probably closer to 35-40 (it's smaller than the KH420, which as far as I'm aware is about 45L internal volume). I don't have exact specs here unfortunately, though I'm sure if someone asked Genelec nicely they'd provide that statistic. I'll also note that the woofer on the 1237 is 12", so its radiating area should be somewhere around 530cm². I am not sure what the Sd of the combined 10" racetrack woofers is, but I'd wager a guess it's not particularly far off that.

Personally I think the mains sound better but I also don't particularly love any of the aluminum cabinet gennies for some reason, especially the 8361. There's a blurriness to the mids I noticed (but I can't track down anything that would cause it).

We need lower self-noise in Genelec 83x0 class. Genelec can do something with this.

Without having heard both, I'd still put money on this being the case. The Ones are great, but a considerably larger speaker will be cruising while the Ones are in hard limit.

The 1236A claims 12dB more output and almost another octave of LF extension compared to the 8361A. When push comes to shove, that difference will not be subtle.
