New version of Sennheiser HD 560S (!)

No need to return it.
The older ones are just a little bit brighter sounding which is easy to EQ.
The newer ones are not 'better' (when EQ'ed) just a little less bright when used without EQ.
Also the newer ones have a shorter cable but if you want that buy an aftermarket cable.
So they are both the same, I spent more time in this thread and came to that conclusion, but sadly Im gonna return it anyway because it had channel imbalance and im sure it's not my ears lol. No Im wishing to get the new model lol(which I think I will because the old model is not available anymore)

The first one I had also had some (slight) channel imbalance the next 7 pieces didn't and had good channel matching.

I've had two units of New Version, first one had channel imbalance that I noticed even before measuring it - however when I measured it the imbalance wasn't as bad as the balance sounded, but yeah I still returned it & the replacement was absolutely fine re channel balance. I find the New Version to sound a lot better than the Old Version if both headphones are used at stock without EQ. New Version HD560s is my best headphone if I can't use EQ.

I have been using the HD560S every day for 2 years.

Today, I replaced my earpads, which I bought from a local Sennheiser after-sales service partner.

I find it sound worse compared to my og pad ,damn.

Do you find the new pads softer than the previous pads that were on there? I'm wondering if the replacement pads are now the New Version pads that are on the New Version HD560s. That shouldn't make the headphone sound worse though when used at stock, but it might make the Oratory EQ sound worse.

Is it softer? Its hard to tell , but I believe it is not the same pad as early hd560s.
Undoubtedly , it has more bass than the old pad .

Unfortunately I can not confirmed is it hd559 pad or hd560s pad , because the local after sale partner did not put a label sticker on the package. Just a closed plastic bag.

Okay guys , I spent ~30mins listening to the hd560s with new pads.

I believe my brain has already adapted to them .
Actually the extra bass is quite good.
I didn't use any EQ except the bass boost from zen can. Now I have turned bass boost off, it sounds fabulous!

The New Version HD560s really does sound good without EQ, at least the unit I've got does. It's the only headphone I've got that sounds near to completely optimised without EQ. Most of the sonic change of New Version is down to the pads, so if you've got the Old Version headphone with the New Version pads then I can understand you liking the headphone now without EQ. (The New Version HD560s has a shorter cable that ends in a 3.5mm jack rather than the Old Version that had the longer cable that ended in the 6.35mm jack - so that's how you know which version you've got).

yup, old version is 6.35mm jack /3m cable.

Yes, I bought that in Q2 of 2022 .
Good, well it seems that the new softer pads have improved the overall balance of your Old Version HD560s, so that now you don't even need to use EQ. That's interesting to note.

Hi there again, I bought my first one and returned it because the right speaker was weaker than the left(I have weak ear) but I flipped them and same the right one was weaker. Bought the second and still the right is weaker but when I flipped them they were almost the same but ended up returning because the body had sharp edges. The third one acted like the second one, right sounds too weak but it is my ear, I flipped and sound is almost the same but after flipping them it's extremely hard for me to notice which one is different, sometimes they're center, sometimes left is stronger and sometimes it's left. I think its harder to notice while flipped because of the design of ear chamber? I dunno what is it called sorry. There’s no way I have such bad luck to receive 3 defects in a row, are they normal like that? Because honestly it's driving me crazy I started to hate them, like no way they're like that by design, should I return my third one?

You should adjust balance as it seems to be hearing related.
It seems to me that even when you bought the complete stock from Sennheiser you will always be hearing imbalance. It also isn't related to the HD560S I think.

I have had 9 of them and only the first one had slight level imbalance (i fixed that) the later 8 did not (all measured).

When you know how many dB imbalance your hearing has I can make a custom attenuator.

Yeah I know but why didn't that happen with my previous set? Flipping them is supposed to let you know if it's a defect, no? Is adjusting balance in windows okay it wont hurt the performance or something cuz u know everyone recommends raw audio so thought that might hurt stuff.

The drivers are angled so flipping them is not the best way for this headphone.
Also this should only be done with a mono signal.

Adjusting balance in windows is equally O.K. as adjusting the volume in windows.

Yup I thought so. All "testing" were done on mono.
I'll trust you on this one because I'm really sick of returning. Thanks a lot!

Hi, it's me again. What's the term for hearing some kind of buzzing or some kind of vibration when there's low bass or something playing. It sounds like the plastic film on the driver is moving or clicking I dunno how to describe it it's not happening but that what i think it sounds like. anyway I heard it on my HD560S while adjusting volume on windows when the tone plays, is it normal? It looks like it got fixed by EQ?

while adjusting the volume its normal.
Volume is adjusted in small steps and that's what you are hearing.
