New Turntables - AT-LP8X, DP3000NE, SL-1300GK, and others

Quasi peak W&F was around .9 and weighted RMS W&F was bouncing between .03 and .04%.
Did you not mean 0.9% peak wow when you wrote this? That is what I commented on..

EDIT :See that you corrected it now , makes 0.09% more sense. I also see that you retracted your original post 160 and changed it.. .2 seconds before i posted a reply to it...

for sake of comparison here is the NAK vs AnalogmagiK W&F software.( and Multitone). the phone apps typically show 0.05% variation in this case ( apps call it wow og W&F even if it is not DIN W&F). A very good test record is used below, some others can have +.55hz wow of 0.2 and 0.3% and are pretty useless, even with centering. That is why I prefer gyroscopes to check drive w&f. Record does tell about some other problems that can be seen in plots below..

Here are some revealing gyroscope basen speed data, 4th order Butterwoth low pass filtered 10 hz to focus on wow.

If I should buy a new turntable today it would probably be Denon 3000ne, it is very close to Technics 1300g in speed performance and have some interesting design features , and an arm based on the old arm theory if Denon ,, that sets it apart from the Technics. And then it is the Technics platter stories that worry me..

But what I really want is a JVC QL-Y5F, a player I looked at being for sake locally a long time but was sold just minutes before I decided to buy it..

I checked my 1300G for platter variation and mine is very slight. A record on the platter is way way more noticeable due to lack of vinyl flatness.

One of the few places we want to have a 'flat' and have trouble getting it to be so!
I used the center screw clamp and peripheral clamping ring on my Merrell Heirloom table for over thirty years. It was a process every time I played a record. Then I got the Clearaudio Performance DC without any clamps and had a sense of “freedom” every time I played a record. However, I soon added the Clearaudio center clamp and Outer Limit ring and was back to the “process”. When I purchased the SL 1300G, I added a center clamp only as it is not possible to add an outer clamp due to platter design. While this does not achieve the better coupling of record to platter afforded by center and outer clamps, it is good enough to fulfill my need to do something additional to putting the record on the platter. I don’t miss putting the outer ring on - you risk hitting the stylus every time. Having mostly flat records helps.

what clamp is recommended for technics turntables? i have the technics thicker mat and there's less pivot height available.

I use this (K.A.B. Electro Acoustics has many parts, custom mods and tools specifically for Technics TT's as well a general TT items)
(my TT's are the technics SL-M3 [linear tracking] and the DUAL 1229:
K.A.B. says:
The newly redesigned KAB super record grip was designed to replace and improve upon the PIG clamp originally supplied with the Revolver brand turntables. This new design features a 2 peice precision molded frame, spring rubber insert and UHMW polyethylene non marring contact surface. This is especially useful on Rega brand turntables and others where there is very little spindle to grab on to.

The KAB Super record grip reduces resonance and acoustic vibration of the record itself, freeing the stylus to do its intended job of tracing the groove. The result is better focus and detail to the soundstage.

The Super record grip attaches quickly; by turning with slight pressure, it "walks" down the spindle and meets the record surface.

This works and is still on closeout pricing.

The Clearaudio Statement clamp was too tall, so just pay attention to clearance with dust cover closed when picking one.
