Not too shabby but in comparison to the excellence of Topping’s electronics a little disappointed.

Powered active or semi-active or passive monitors ?

The picture above shows a model different from the prototype presented last may (see previous pages of this thread). I prefer the design of the prototype.

I agree with Keith, I'm not positively amazed nor by the overall cdesign, nor by the graphs showed above. Just as good as many other budget monitors.
I was expecting better from Topping for their entry in speaker design.

By the way, Topping has also entered the IEM market with their Hane model. Nothing particularly stunning or top notch. A little bit disappointed too.
Other chinese brands like Moondrop design IEMs with better VFM.

Active speakers cost RMB 1,998 per pair, and the power amplifier uses the same level of PA3s.

1998CNY≈216GBP.
Approximately 260 €/pair. Not expensive, but once again there are plenty of rather good budget monitors on the market at about the same price level : Kali audio, JBL, Adam audio, KRK, Swissonic/Thomann, Yamaha, etc.
This Topping has to be pretty good and reliable to gain success in this ultra competitive market !
What one can see on the graphs above is good but not extraordinary compared to the above mentioned established competitors.
It will be hard for Topping !

Excellence includes for me also a reliable and sustainable engineering and product support so for me it matches the mixed and mediocre opinion I have about that company.

Keep in mind this is a 4". That market is a bit less crowded.

Shame about the remaining ripple that'll require EQ, because otherwise dispersion looks really good (the Kali LP-UNF would need to order a candleholder, it's more KH80 level) and a speaker this size that's basically flat to 50 Hz and has a -10 dB at 41ish Hz is nothing to sneeze at either.

What is this device ?
Please, as you post a picture, explain what's inside, that's better for everybody's understanding.

One can deduct: microphone inputs, headphone output, levels on the front display, Topping Professional branded, OTG labels... It's not hard to see it is a portable audio interface. With reverb DSP for monitoring, and 48V phantom power for condenser mics.

What about the monitor speakers ? Will they be released or not ? Anyone has news ?
