New Topping B200 Mono Amp

These seemingly cheap ones did not exist before let’s say 2003 (The Hypex Amp Revolution - Driven by Bruno Putzeys). The other companies who are selling for ten or twenty times the price -snakeoil!
The modern top notch Topping amps: They are existing sconce 2023/2024. So where is your point?
Sorry - I didnt mean to sound rude. I’m just trying to understand if I’m getting anything if I’ll go say with Macintosh monoblocks vs these .
You guys find bizarre I want to go with “cheap” amp with expensive speaker.
So I’ll ask again : what more money gets me if this one (probably) measures perfectly already (let’s leave watts aside)? 1200$ a pair…

So what’s the point of paying shitloads for amp if these seemingly cheap ones are offering perfect measuring ? What do I get? Please explain

I'll say it again:
Only if you want to impress your friends with a massive McIntosh stack with green power meters (which is typically what folks who buy Focal Utopia loudspeakers do).

I use my Hegel that has 2x 250W at 8ohm at 56/100 volume. I assume I need about 150W per channel with no headroom if I was to extrapolate
Your gain potentiometer is NOT linear!!!
I assume, You need about 3 Watts if you are hearing increadible loud.
150 Watt with 92 db Sensitivity……
Are you sure, you are hearing with 115 dB Peak???
You can measure your needs with the Dezibel X app and your Smartphone

I'll say it again:
What would you get personally?

the highest I get is about 80dB which is plenty for me
Website tells me 104 dB SPL at listening postion

It’s @amirm who says also that there is something cool in very large High End Speakers, which is hard to explain. And he doesn’t have cheap ones!
But if he would have to buy an amp now, in 2025, he would probably go for Topping, Hypex or Purify.
O.k. He likes these large power meters also ;) !

My reading today was leading me to these 3 today, hence my post, thank you

Yes we love high end speakers, they give goosebumps

Proud owner of focal Diablos , but want the scala evo now (for whatever reason :p)

Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure the B200 are excellent monoblocs, but after my experience with the B100, if I were in the market with a B200 budget, I’d rather spend B200 money on a Hypex Nilai.

So to recap:
I can sell my Hegel h390 for say 3k £
Buy 2 of these and have 2/3 of cash for some other separates? Huh

So everything with more than 1 Watt would be ok.
So many choices! We don’t know exactly the reliability of a Topping PA 5 MkII, B100, B200 etc.
But if it brokes it is not a great financial loss.
Any Purify would be ok also. But all these Amps are constructed even for the demanding speakers out there.
The Focal Scala isn’t demanding at all!

I bought my self a Topping B100 as a Christmas gift…..
My speakers have only 85 dB/Watt at 1 m

Don’t use Adaptor Cables from Cinch to XLR with the B100!!!
It is largely discussed here: Use Cinch to Cinch or XLR to XLR!
Any other Problems besides the quite low power for your 82.5 dB Speakers, ED?

Why would you want to replace your Hegel? What do you expect from the B200 monos what you're missing from the Hegel?

Also the H390 is a full integrated - so you're also planning to buy a new Pre-Amp, DAC, Streamer....?

I have minidsp flex and WiiM mini so I only need amp really . I want to buy eversolo a6 so technically could fund it with the switch and still have money left ? Or dumb idea :)

Everyone as he likes... I would not replace the H390 with these monos if I would consider upgrading my gear - whatever upgrade means; hence my other questions in the reply above.

The only reason is I feel it's expensive for what it offers, seeing how great of an amp you can get for fraction of the price during my reading today... money lying on the table kind of thing (albeit it has good resale value, so not necessarily wasted)

What was your experience (the bad one)?
Hit a very big transient burst on a highly dynamic track while playing it moderately loud, triggering safety cutoff on both amps; I was able to reset right channel amp, but left is dead. Returning it to Apos (outstanding customer service!!!) for warranty replacement, then I’m selling the pair of B100s.

@Diseasex: I just saw photos of your listening room which you have posted two years ago:

The most important thing you have to do is to do some room treatment!!!

This video is a must for you:

And the room-treatment-series of New Record Day!

I have 4 bass traps , with last 2 coming last week . There’s so much I can do with this tiny room,
Which photo you’re referring to, might be old .
This is current one

Pardon the RGB, personal preference.
+2 corner bass traps in 2x left corners (no other way)
