I just saw an advertisement in an audio magazine for Antelope Audio's first foray into Studio Monitors. It looks imposing and technologically advanced.

Looks great and interesting design
its isobaric + coaxial, design looks very interesting

This is either going to be amazing or absolutely awful and there's really no in-between. Given the driver frames aren't even recessed into the cabinet, I'm leaning toward "not great".

They are recessed

How does it spin? That is the question.

'state of the art'

'isobaric'

I guess I am unfamiliar with the use of FPGA in these sorts of applications; what is the upside vs a microcontroller? Obviously they don’t think they will make enough to warrant an ASIC run, but do they plan on shipping synthesized HDL code in updates? Surely they won’t let me use my own IP for DSP. Why are there multiple “FPGA chips” in each speaker? Are these just in the test rig and not shipped (leaning this way myself)?

Anyways… “custom-designed Class-D amplifiers” isn’t a great sales pitch, for our audience anyways.

The coax looks like a Sica 5.5 C 1.5 CP:

Still no real reviews out there for this speaker end of 2024. Its hard to really know much about their first speaker. Their Interface products are decent.

I have been waiting to get some sica coaxials but they're always out of stock. I wager at this point all their stock is going to manufacturers. Ugh.

Wow just noticed this thread is from last year. How have these not gotten some data to show?

Sica don't keep stock - they build to order, so for someone to stock them, they actually have to order a batch. You can't just order like two, so that means the shop you are looking at needs to order a fair amount of drivers probably.

Only place I know to get them is https://en.toutlehautparleur.com

I suspect Sicas policy of building to order will have a natural consequence of not many stores purchasing them and making the available to the DIY public. So my point is Sica isn't really sold out, but these shops aren't purchasing.
