New Sony ES 8K AV Receiver Line STR-AZ7000ES STR-AZ5000ES STR-AZ3000ES STR-AZ1000ES

Does Sony's room calibration do any room to correction? Based on the videos I've seen, it doesn't do frequency sweeps so I'm thinking it doesn't.

I'm mostly concerned with peaks, I've got a couple of nasty +13db peaks, would the new Sony line being those down? Any REW before and after measurements?

It does and it does include a mic for room sweeps

Sony’s calibration is weird. Often changes if repeated. I guess not much money in avrs. Maybe never was even in my youth. None of my friends or family were ever into sound.

I think they do put money into it but they trickle the tech into their soundbars more since it prob generates more revenue. They use the same room correction (or some form of it) in their AVRs as their soundbars. Their software is designed for those who don't want to tinker around as aggressively its not bad by any means but its simple and straight forward. Some of the settings are tinkerable but for the most part is much easier than Dirac / ARC / Audessey. I think they're aware that the people who will buy their AVRs arent the people who arent the deepest in the HT game.

It does seem very simple. That said, somehow I've always been impressed with what it does even in a difficult room.

updating my anecdotal use : we moved the living room completely around & recalibrated the drc to the "Sony Studio" setting. Older, reflective plaster walls & ceiling/glass surfaces so rolled off the treble a bit. The room playback sounds exactly as it's supposed to : again great.

this part I'm grateful for as everything else around here is complicated : = )
