The HD 620S is currently available for pre-order, and begins shipping on June 6th 2024, and will be available from select retailers and at sennheiser-hearing.com with an RRP of £299.99 / €349.90.

Oh wow, this looks neat.

But I think I already found the (little) catch. Considering the graph is probably smoothed out a lot, the lower mids might be uneven.

The question is how much distortion will it have? And that FR seems very uneven.

Looks promising if it’s a genuine release with those measurements compared to the HD600 but I’d have to eq those mids down a fair bit

Closed back with pleather/leather pads usually make the bass lose resolution or sound boomy. Not going to rush and pre-order this time, will wait for some hands on reviews. Just got the DT770 Pro X limited and it's pretty good, just not as good as I was expecting, the DT900 Pro X was really nice though, and the DT700 Pro x was too mellow. Any more closed back options are welcome though, hopefully the pads are a standard size.

Couple months ago they asked people would they buy a closed back headphone that's measures as community accepted target and priced about $300. Looks pretty good in my opinion. Here's how it compares against Harman target:

Unfortunately close back headphones all have intrinsic issues. But they much more easily get decent bass extension.

Despite the strange decision to opt for the 5 series chassis, i at least hope this low-end fr lives up to expectations.

Hmmm…by the looks of the tuning it looks like a 150 ohm HD569. Good boot of bass as well as a warm upper frequency response.
I am currently sending back a pair of K371, because the pads already are beginning to crack…and that is a headphone less than a month old. I’ve maybe used it for an hour. Love the sound though.
So naturally I’m looking for something closed with a tad better build and hopefully better pads.
I kinda frustrates me when companies announce something glorious…and then go back on their word. Hifiman did so with the HE-5XX (or the Dexx) where most of us were expecting a relaunch of the old HE-500 and wound up with a Deva in black.
When Sennheiser said they’re making a closedback HD600, I thought to myself ‘finally a proper headphone company decides to launch an old phoenix in a new closed design’.
Well colour me somewhat disappointed. Sure I am waiting for a proper frequency response in order to see what’s what as Sennie’s last frequency response of the HD660S2 didn’t exactly match up with what other rigs measured…but seeing a closedback HD560S/150 ohm HD569 was not exactly what I had my hopes up for.

Closed back headphones are useful for listening in bed without annoying anyone else or for moderately noisy environments.

Not really, thats the natural decay of a decent FR.
I don’t really know what that means. Looks to me most of the >3KHz region needs a significant boost to comply with Harman. Most headphones that lack dB’s there sound a bit dull in my experience.
