New S.M.S.L. M300 SE 120$

Smsl M300se
Just received yesterday.
First impressions are very positive.
As a headphone amplifier, unfortunately, it is of no interest, but as a DAC it is very, very good.
One of these days I will connect to a good PSU, then I will write a test.
Can you use it as a pre amp???

"At this time the pre-amp mode is OFF". So likely...no?

"You can select preamp mode turn on or turn off"

"At this time (=in the picture), the preamp is turned off", hence the display reads FIXED

So yes, the M300se can be used as preamp.

I picked up a used SMSL M300 because my new Topping D10 Balanced kept making popping noises. Imagine my surprise when I install the M300 driver and it is the same drive as the Topping D10. I should have figured.

Anyway, I noticed when restarting my laptop the M300 makes a bunch of random noises and pops. Going to need to rewire my USB and see if that helps.

The whole point of this was getting a cheap balanced DAC for my work from home setup. My single ended D10 original makes ZERO clicking or popping noises. It just plays music like it should.

Hello! I would like to know if the SMSL M300SE is detected by a phone's bluetooth connection, if the SMML input is set to optical.
Thanks in advance!

What exactly do you mean? What is SMML input?

In general, and this also applies to the M300SE, Bluetooth is only activated on DACs if Bluetooth is explicitly selected as an input. In all other cases, Bluetooth is deactivated and cannot establish a connection.

Hello! I would like to know if the Smsl M300se in optical input mode is seen or not by a phone's bluetooth network.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the bluetooth information( A friend has bought the SMSL PS200 and that one has an input selector, but the PS200 is always seen by his phone's bluetooth network, regardless of the selected input...),
Another question: can you use the balanced and unbalanced output at the same time.?

Yes. I can confirm that both outputs (XLR/3.5mm) at the back are active simultaneously. Do set outputs to ALL in the menu.

Amazon has "Upgraded" version of M300SE listed, don't know if it has the bugs fixed that were discussed in this thread though.

This upgraded version was listed after just a few months, so at least a year or more ago.

Thank you for your information. Do you have the SMLS M300SE or do you know for sure that you can connect to the DAC only when Bluetooth is selected as an input?
It is very important to me to know for sure.(because in the SMSL-P200 , you can connect a phone and the DAC with bluetooth even if the input is selected as optical-and you do not change that-, which means the bluetooth is always active...)

I have one of these units and the Bluetooth connection only activates when BT is the selected input.

Obviously, this may not be true on all possible hard/soft variants of the M300, but that's how it is on mine.

Thanks a lot. I will buy one.
