Why didn't they call it ADI-3? ;)
That's because the name is related to the amount of channels. I don't think they will change it anytime soon. :p

Do we know the internal chips yet? Curious if they're going with SOTA AKM or ESS chips.

"It's likely based on the ADI-2/4 Pro SE with some modifications and upgrades. There’s a pretty high chance it uses an ESS chip."

Don't know about the chips, sorry

The feet have been upgraded to chrome ones.
That's nice.

I'd be tempted if they described it as "hyper-fidelity".

Yep, that's good news.
And it must be the only one doing DSD both playback and recording (I'll wait for the "how" ) at lower price gear.
If I had to guess (hope) ADC would be AK5578EN or AK5538VN/AK5534VN (depending the channels) for lower cost but that's unlikely as it does not do champion THD+N .

It looks to be just a more expensive (and bigger) ADI-2 Pro FS R. I'd expect at least a 7 band EQ, some more DSP functions and TotalMix support for it to be an actual upgrade. Still it's good to know this product line continues.

@Pearljam5000 , any chance you could update the posts to use thumbnails instead of "full" on the attachments? Your multiple posts take up a MASSIVE amount of real estate, which makes it hard to scroll and find the next comments.

Well actually it's on purpose so it's easier for people to see all of the info without the need to enlarge the photos
Don't worry it's a discomfort only on the first page of the thread ;)
But you did it twice. And perhaps there is an option reduce the size on the first one... we don't need 60+ point size text bullets to read it :-)

I'm assuming this still only has a single ASRC (Automatic Sample Rate Conversion) available at any time. That was the one feature I was really hoping they would increase on this release.

USB-C!?!?
I am surprised after reading many comments about USB-B vs -C.
In any event, this device is probably another high-quality RME product. I've owned a few over the years- very reliable, versatile, neat things.
Re the chip: doesn't it say AK4493 in the OP?
