New Revel Performa4 / Arcam Radia speaker line-up -- with Anechoic EQ

The F228Be runs slightly hotter than the F208 in the 3-6 kHz range, which might be the reason for this subjective impression.

It looks to me from about 1600 onward, it is much closer to neutral to the f208. I see that slight spike at around 5500, but compare that to the corresponding dip of the f208.

Overall the graphs are really quite similar, and comparisons also depend on overall loudness choice, e.g. if we match at 200Hz instead of 1kHz. So too close to predict subjective sound quality with any reliability.

I was really pointing to not just the spike but the dip of the F208 so that when comparing the two, that area of frequency was exaggerated a bit more (compared to a theoretical flat counterpart at that area of frequency). It always seemed to me it was almost self-evident which sounded better (but to each his own!).

This is similar to what I’d say with the F208 vs the F228Be (I’ve owned the former and now own the F228Be). Prior to those, I had Goldenear T5s, which are pretty fun speaker, but could get a little fatiguing in the upper frequencies. Though I’d pick the F208s any time over the golden ears, i did feel I was missing just a tad in that upper range. The F228Be brought back anything that was lacking and it was noticeable and immediate. Seemed to me the 228Be is more revealing/real than the f208. Not fatiguing or bright at all. Just more “real” and “clear”.
That was my subjective impression as well between the M16/M105's and then the M126be's. The former were definitely no slouch, but back to back comparison with the Be's, the Be's were subjectively more realistic and lively sounding to me.

We wouldn't be here if we didn't think good sound is important. But the following is essential reading for anyone currently unwilling or unable to hand up the Beryllium from their tweeters, when the time comes.
The JWST is more or less reading out to us in real time the history of our universe.
And it isn't AI, it's empirical.
