From our favorite manufacturer

Coming Soon!

We are excited to offer the Purifi 1ET7040SA module, the latest from Purifi. Our tests indicate sonic improvements and increased ability to drive complex and low impedance loads. It has a 40A current capacity v. 25A for the 1ET400A and provides 2X output power for each halving of impedance down to almost 2 ohms where the PS is the limiting factor. Our Audio Precision AP system attests to its outstanding performance specifications.

As important, the sound is outstanding, with lots of headroom on peaks, wide and transparent soundstage and solid well-defined bass, improved over the 1ET400A.

We developed our VTV Purifi Pure Sound buffer to power the new Purifi module. You can use all of our available discrete OPAMPS in our buffer to tailor the sound.

We hope to offer stereo and monoblocks very soon!

What power supply might we need for a stereo configuration? A Hypex SMPS3KA400? Dual SMPS1200A400? Connex SMPS2000RxE with a custom 70V output? Any sign Purifi might release their own SMPS when they officially announce the new amplifier module?

Since the introduction of the 1ET400 many have wondered when Purifi will deliver a more powerful amplifier so that large speakers like the Revel Salon 2 can be fully driven. More power without sacrificing the remarkable performance of the 1ET400. Some serious competition to McIntosh, Bryston, Krell etc.

Compared to the 1ET400, the 1ET7040 appears to offer a little more voltage swing but principally more current drive (40A peak vs 25A peak - so about the same as a Hypex NC1200). For most speakers the voltage drive will be the limitation so the 1ET7040 is not a significant advantage unless 2 amplifiers are used in bridge mode per channel (then perhaps the current limit should have been set at 50A?).

So what’s the hold up? Here are a few thoughts. Firstly Purifi have been working on their loudspeakers - just beginning to bear fruit. Secondly the very high power market is quite small. Thirdly the 1ET400 is a pretty hard act to follow and the preliminary performance of the 1ET7040 perhaps isn’t quite there . . .

If look straight at the power specs, a single SMPS1200 for stereo should not be enough to match these. I'd say one 1200 per module.

No idea if Purifi has its own PSU coming but I doubt it.

Right. And it will not improve anything on the voltage side, so around 210-220W @ 8 Ohm like the 1ET400A.
Which raises the possibility of a new power supply being in the offing?

That's rather about a new PSU product of OEM manufacturer than a question for an assembling company.
I agree, was probably asking ‘the Internet’ rather than @boXem | audio really.
