New Product: Arvus H2-4D Atmos Renderer, Simultaneous 16 channel AES/Balanced Analog/Dante Output

All I can say is the Trinnov AltitudeCI is awesome and the features you get for the extra money are worth it in my opinion, but may not be for others. The flexibility and features are unmatched.

Right now I have a the CI outputting 96k over AES into the RME HDSPe AES 32 card. I use HDMI WASAPI settings for exclusive mode in JRiver. I can play all the HD media I have without issue thanks to JRiver's DSP Output settings.

Of course, for movies, most are decoded to 48kHz as that's how they were mastered. It actually works surprisingly well for me. Decodes DTS-X and Atmos just fine. If there's a movie with DTS-X or Atmos not at 48kHz let me know and I'll try it.

Perhaps we can get clarification from the reviewer himself @Kal Rubinson ?
I have no details to add to a review from 3 years ago but I would be willing to try to interpret/clarify any specific statements.

At the End i don't want to pay for Something i can't Use .....I can't use any Analogue Outs on a Processor!

So i realy wan't an Atmos capabel HDMI to AES Processor Digital Only. if it has some more Digital Feature like DPR-16 ok but in reality i don't need it!

This would be fine for me but it downsampled all to 48kHz thats an no go!!!

And for Nuprime H16-AIP I need aditional Dante to AES Decoder for 1600€ and get only 96kHz no 192kHz at all!

So i wait for Hyprerion DPR-16 and his specification i am not in a hurry ;) I told above.

I use an RME HDSPE 8 AES in 8 AES Out (16 to 16 Channels CamillaDSP Crosover) directly to an AES Stereo Dac per Speaker (2Way) and 2x XLR to Hypex AMPS per Speaker ;)

And if i pay 4k it need to have something that my cheep HDMI to 4x AES Extractor (LPCM only) can't do, ATMOS Rendering as an Example, Low Jitter on AES Out???

At the End the RME CARD Filters all Jita Away and can Handle input with realy Large Jita, but thats worst case for me. Also it has Masterclock in and Out for Sync

And the Vanity Pro has Masterclock Out but no Surrounddecoding at all thats an pitty, so the H2-4D has both ATMOS and Masterclock in and Out ;) but 5k to pay.

Let se who will win the Race DPR-16 or h2-4D ......;)

Economics doesn’t work like that a lower production run device will be more expensive despite having fewer components in it as the development costs are a far bigger component of the final sale cost than the bill of materials to build the unit.

Were you able to use the Arvus H2-4D to accept, process and output high resolution uncompressed multi-channel digital audio?

My end-game setup would only use AES out from my PC into the Trinnov CI for audio files, eliminating all other DSPs and using Benchmark DAC3 B's for all channels, with the Trinnov CI also performing filtering to tri-amp my bed layer.

In the end I'd like to only use HDMI for movie playback only (specifically for bitstreaming immersive formats).

But i testet already all I2S Data Outs on that HDMI to I2S with 192kHz Blueray DTS Master Audio HD (LPCM) John Scofield to that first i2S to AES Board and they worked all like it should with my SMSL SU-2 Dac on AES, also with my Pioneer UD 5 on AES In.

I am embarassed to see the lack of clarity and that I failed to distinguish when I was using the digital vs. the analog outputs. However, because my mch DACs display sample rate on their front panel, I would certainly have noticed and commented on any discrepancy between expected and displayed sample rate when playing 96kHz or 192kHz sources via the digital output.

Also, JA says: "The Arvus H2-4D’s measured performance was paradoxical in that while its digital outputs correctly followed the incoming data’s sample rate, its analog outputs with hi-rez data appear to be downsampled to 48kHz, with not much better than 16 bits of resolution."

That's all I've got. Sorry.

My interpretation of both yours and JA's comments was that the Arvus did indeed output high resolution digital audio, but @Frunse seemed to be convinced that it didn't.

Ok thats sounds perfekt to me, Analogue downsmpling don't bother me, i need only Digital in and Out ;) may be my Vavorite for now but i wait till DPR-16 arrived and was tested ;)
Also i like the Masterclock option / ability in to my RME Card on Arvus, but it has only one HDMI in and you need to use an aditional HDMI Switcher and i guess it adds noise.

Yeah, i wish i could aford such an Device but no luck, never wonn in a Lottery ;)
14k€ is something i would pay for an good Car ;) and that waight much more than an Processor so more kg for youre Money LOOOOOOL

Also the fast change in Elctronic Devices capability makes it difficult for me to spend so much Money in something that could be obsolate in 2 to 5 Years like my Onkyo TX5007 was after 2 Years only because off HDMI. Now it stands here around without any usabilty for my, i gues next time it lands in an Garbage Colector.
