New Product: Arvus H2-4D Atmos Renderer, Simultaneous 16 channel AES/Balanced Analog/Dante Output

I'm trying to help you here. It's a subject close to my heart, and I've been researching it for two years.
Nobody knows whether the AudioControl DPR-16 will output 96kHz. I do hope it does, but we will have to wait until it is released later this year.
We know from the Stereophile review that the Arvus H2-4D does output 96kHz over AES/EBU:

We also know for a fact that all Trinnov processors can output at least 96kHz over AES/EBU.
From memory, certain models of Lyngdorf, JBL and Datasat can also do this.
Hmm than the Reviewer has done some Mistake or it was not aviable on release, need to find it and Link it here.

May be thats an Windows PC issue not an H2-4D issue, not sure.

On the Description Page, it say:

Supports PCM (44.1–192kHz/16–24 bit) so a bit confusing!

I play all my FIles from my Nas (WAV) thrue HDMI Out at 96kHz to my DSP PC RME AES in and Out, no Problem what so ever

With my own DYI build from Cards aviable on Aliexpress or Audiophonics, for Surround stil need some Wirering ;)

Stereo Works already:

But i testet already all I2S Data Outs on that HDMI to I2S with 192kHz Blueray DTS Master Audio HD (LPCM) John Scofield to that first i2S to AES Board and they worked all like it should with my SMSL SU-2 Dac on AES, also with my Pioneer UD 5 on AES In.

May be thats an Windows PC issue not an H2-4D issue, not sure.
That was a 352.8kHz file, which the Arvus does not process.
If you read the whole of the rest of the review, you will see many references to playing 96 and 192kHz files without any problem.
Apple Music's Atmos is lossy (footnote 8), but I find it a credible alternative to the high-rez stereo release (24/96 in this case), swapping the latter's clarity and immediacy for a huge enhancement in the acoustic space.
I chose to focus my listening on how Dolby Atmos (48kHz) sounds different from 5.1 DTS HD MA (192kHz) and 5.1 Dolby TruHD (192kHz), all lossless.
Fig.2 shows the eye pattern with the Arvus outputting AES3 data sampled at 96kHz. The higher sample rate results in a significantly shorter eye, but there is still no blurring.

"(or any PCM file)" That means not only the 384kHz one for me and i am an Windows or Linux User not Apple ? ;)

I wait for 16-DPR when it will Released i have time don't need to rush i have my DYI Extractor till than ;)
If the AES will give us 96kHz it's my Favorite so Far above the Vanity Pro but i like the Worldclock Out option there and the low Jitter.

I think he only wants 8 channels.
For ATMOS Experiments you need 16 Channels Into my DSP RME CARD PC, so i want to test an 14 Chanel wideband speaker Setup 3" and 2 Subs on 16 Outs, I can't place 14 2-Way Speaker in my Room ;)

The 3" Wideband i want to place around my Head on my Listening Position so around 50 to 100cm on Aluminium Profiles, thats only for Experimantal tests ;)
Think about the oldscool Audio Chairs with all the Speaker in it LOOOL but now with ATMOS

And my Room got now 20m² i decided to another Apartment it is more Expensive but has at al 62m² and so my Audio Room will be the bigest Room with 20m² ;)

I will get the Apartment at 18.6.2026 than some Work there to do and may be early 07.2026 i can Move in!

For the avoidance of doubt, perhaps you could simply tell us what you want.
Is it either:
  • 8 channels of AES3 @ 24 bits x 96kHz
Or:
  • 16 channels of AES3 @ 24 bits x 96kHz?
If it's the first one, an HDMI audio extractor will do.
If it's the second, you need an immersive audio processor.
 
No i wand an Digital only Surroundprocessor without any Analogue Outs like the Hyperion 16-DPR and 4k is something i could pay for it!
For now my Favorite Extractor is VanityPro with external Powersuply 2,2k. But thats onlly LPCM capabel path thrue.

The Hyperion would Give me also Dolby Atmos Rendering, and probably any day Dirac, also HDMI Switching between diferent Inputs.

But for that i need to know will it send Audiostreams with 96kHz to the AES Outs!?

I don't want to go backwards to an Processor like Minidsp Tide 16 or H2-4D that sampled all down to 48 kHz on Digital Outs, thats an no go for me!!!

My RME HDSPe AES Card Setup with CamillaDSP is working now and sounds already great at 96kHz Processing, AES in and AES Out (16x16) to 2 cheep SMSL-SU2 Dacs

Now i will try the Card on Linux as next aproach.

@ Welwynnik: I mean if the Documention didn't say the Out frequency specialy on AES you never know what the capabel to give Out there!!

On h2-4D they say 192kHz Processing and nothing special on AES Out on an Review i read this device gives only 48 kHz out on AES Out and thats sux!

So as long i can't read in an Description what an Processor wil give us on AES Out i don't Buy it ;)
Why do you care about it having analog outs what you will not use? You will pay more for for something which is a niche design.

Also why do you care about AES3 being built in to the unit rather than being format converted from Dante?

At the End i don't want to pay for Something i can't Use .....I can't use any Analogue Outs on a Processor!

So i realy wan't an Atmos capabel HDMI to AES Processor Digital Only. if it has some more Digital Feature like DPR-16 ok but in reality i don't need it!

And for Nuprime H16-AIP I need aditional Dante to AES Decoder for 1600€ and get only 96kHz no 192kHz at all!

So i wait for Hyprerion DPR-16 and his specification i am not in a hurry ;) I told above.

I use an RME HDSPE 8 AES in 8 AES Out (16 to 16 Channels CamillaDSP Crosover) directly to an AES Stereo Dac per Speaker (2Way) and 2x XLR to Hypex AMPS per Speaker ;)

And if i pay 4k it need to have something that my cheep HDMI to 4x AES Extractor (LPCM only) can't do, ATMOS Rendering as an Example, Low Jitter on AES Out???

At the End the RME CARD Filters all Jita Away and can Handle input with realy Large Jita, but thats worst case for me. Also it has Masterclock in and Out for Sync

And the Vanity Pro has Masterclock Out but no Surrounddecoding at all thats an pitty, so the H2-4D has both ATMOS and Masterclock in and Out ;) but 5k to pay.

Let se who will win the Race DPR-16 or h2-4D ......;)

A year ago I thought that Atmos, Dolby, Dirac and Dante were all I wanted from an AVP, but now I try to avoid Dante.
I've read many accounts of people using AoIP in their systems, and although Dante is the least complicated to get working, it's not plug & play like conventional interfaces.
Dante networks also have their own clock, which is independent of the digital audio source, so they break the logical top-down hierarchy of system clocking.
Dante is asynchronous, so you HAVE to have an asynchronous sample rate converter (ASRC). Some are good and some are not.
Whatever the sample rate of the source is, it has to be converted to the Dante rate, so it's no longer bit perfect, and you waste high resolution audio.
There are a variety of Dante interfaces, and the software ones are cheap but have high latency, and the hardware ones have very low latency, but are expensive.
Compared with open standards like AES67, Dante is proprietary to Audinate , and users have to pay a high license fee.
Dante products are all expensive.

I could use also an RME HDSPe AoX-D but twice the Price and for what kind off Benefit for me??? It makes all more Expensive.

I payed 850€ for that RME AES Card and if i need more Outputs i can add an second Card synced to first one for 32x32 (up to Three) and still cheeper than that new AoX-D LoooL

That's true, but Dante has plenty of capacity for high channel counts AND high sample rates. More than any interface I think. Not that I'm advocating Dante at all.
 
Dante cost Licenses right and ASE67 is free, i was looking into it for Possibilitys but sometimes one DEvice had more Channels with DANT and an other with AES67 that made me a bit curios about that Stuff, and what happen if i use Multiple stand alone Stereo Dacs will they be synced i guess not!

I tested 3 Dacs on my AES Device and on 30minutes test they was Spot on i would say, but an longterm Test will follow, if i have time for that before or after i move the in to my Apartment.
 
Audio Control Hyperion Axis 16 might be what some of you are looking for.

Their webpage is not up yet so best to look at the 10 channel version for info.
