'In October 1971, Pink Floyd made history by performing without an audience at the ancient Roman Amphitheatre in Pompeii, Italy, marking the first concert ever held at this iconic venue. This performance was captured in the renowned 1972 concert film, Pink Floyd at Pompeii – MCMLXXII, which is set to make a triumphant return to theaters this spring.
“I have been on a quest for the elusive film rushes of Pink Floyd At Pompeii since 1994,” Topham remarked. “The recent discovery of the original 35mm cut negative from 1972 was a particularly significant moment. The newly restored version features the complete 90-minute cut, merging the original 60-minute performance edit with additional documentary segments filmed at Abbey Road Studios shortly thereafter.”
Steven Wilson focused on enhancing both the depth and clarity of the audio while remaining true to the original sound of the performance. The accompanying album release will mark the first time Pink Floyd: Live At Pompeii is presented as a comprehensive live record. Wilson’s remix, scheduled for release on May 2, 2025, will be available on CD, vinyl, Blu-Ray, DVD, Digital Audio, and Dolby Atmos.
“Since my father introduced me to The Dark Side of the Moon by playing it incessantly during my childhood, Pink Floyd has been my favorite band,” Wilson expressed. “They are my ‘Beatles,’ deeply embedded in my musical identity. I first experienced Pompeii through a grainy print at a local cinema, and it left a profound impression on me with its unrestrained and exploratory rock music performed by four musicians who epitomized intellectual cool. It was a privilege to remix the soundtrack to accompany Lana Topham’s remarkable restoration of the film, which appears as if it could have been filmed yesterday.'

So looking forward to this ..
