New NAD CD Deck

I’ve seen this NAD advertised. I have to say it is the first CD player I’ve seen since buying my Sony CDP-XB930 back in 1999 that has made me think seriously about changing.

I am not an engineer. I'm a relative dummy. But for several years of being here, I know that MQA was a disaster that deserved to die. Everything with MQA costed more because of the licensing. I'd look for something that doesn't have those magic words.

Suggested retail price is $1400 USD or 2000 CAD, and I thought SMSL's PL200 @ 670 USD was awfully fancy. I could've sworn MQA was dead and discredited, but instead, it seems to be undead. As for that alphanumeric display, great if your CDs contain CD-Text data. Not a new standard, but I have no idea how common it is in the wild.

Yeah, MQA - can't see that as any kind of a plus. As Jeff notes above, that nice looking display might well be hobbled by lack of data in older CDs.

CD Text is very common now. It’s the display and clean uncluttered look that appeals to me with the NAD, but it is very expensive.

The new 589 CD deck from NAD ("coming soon," they say?) looks kinda beautiful. I'm sure will be pricey, though. Hope Amir and/or NTTY get one to measure.
One thing worth noting is the quality of the DAC inside the NAD CD deck. While many modern CD players might rely on external DACs for better sound and having a well-designed DAC built into the player can still make a big difference in audio clarity and overall performance. A good internal DAC helps reduce noise, giving you cleaner and more detailed sound straight from the disc which can be especially noticeable with high-quality recordings.

It would be difficult to find a CD player that has audible noise levels from any price point or era.
