New Mesanovic CDM65 monitors

Wonderful speakers!
I understand these are meant to be near field monitors. At what listening distance could you stretch them out to?
I've been listening to them at 85 dB (C) at 3m distance with no sign of limiting on a variety of source material. Useable distance will obviously be dependent on your listening level, but they can certainly be stretched past the typical 1-2m near field distance.

With a quick search I found sub drivers with efficiency raging from 83 to 96 so if you divide that in three "portions" 88-89 would be in the middle.
For the operating area of subwoofers, these efficiency number tell you very little actually. Parameters and cabinet design are far more important for the actual efficiency.

It’s such a pity not having a digital input but only a analog one…
The platin hub allows that. See below from the website.

One of the unique features of the CDM65 is its ability to receive wireless audio from any WiSA transmitter. The CDM65 is a WiSA certified speaker and can connect to any WiSA transmitter or the Platin Stereo Hub. The quality of playback is uncompromised with an uncompressed 24-bit 48/96 kHz stream that can be paired up to a 7.1 setup. The Stereo Hub is manufactured for Mesanovic by Platin Audio. It features an assortment of available inputs including USB Audio, HDMI, Optical, RCA, AirPlay, Spotify Connect, ChromeCast, and more. The Stereo Hub also features a DSP processor which can be utilized using the Mesanovic App. The app features room correction and the ability to manually EQ the response to your preference.

Excellent job. I know they aren't out yet, but it is always interesting to see new speakers with great measurements.

Were the new Epique drivers considered?

Very nice drivers, but not ideal for this design given their physical depth. Definitely a driver that is contention for future designs.

A couple of questions for a studio/recording environment.

Can these speakers be parked 1 inch from the front wall with cardioid still being fully effective - or does it need a few inches of space?

You mentioned earlier than the cardioid performance is tunable. What does that look like if I cross over to a sub rather high (around 130-150 hz) due to my floor/ceiling bounce? Does this mean I can use the woofers on the CDM65 to provide more cardioid performance than shown in these measurements - since I would be taking a lot of stress off the woofers?

Yes, you can put them right up against the front wall. The cardioid pattern is not user tunable, it is one of the tuning options available along with a standard tuning (non cardioid tuning). I think you're referring to the cardioid being adjustable in my earlier posts where I described how we can manipulate it in many ways while designing the speaker, but this is not something that we open up to users. Crossing over to a sub up to 150Hz won't change the performance since the cardioid kicks in above 150Hz.

We'll have the CDM65s set up at the NAMM show this week - booth 15816. If you're planning on attending come by and say hi!

These look super cool!!!

Controlled directivity down to 150hz with a pair of side mounted 6.5” woofers (maybe Dayton?). Mid looks like the same they use in the larger RTM10.

Looks like they use platin plate amps with WISA compatibility. I think Buchardt uses platin plate amps as well.
That link is supposedly infected, per Avast Security (@BDWoody )

Rather meanly they only let you read 30% for free, they look great though.

Full details of the CDM65 are now available on our website: link removed

The amps are not Hypex. Front End Audio made a typo there. Full specs are available on our website.

It probably won't make that much of a difference at about 2m (8 ft) listening distance, but ... Should the center between the tweeter and midrange be about ear height or what would be recommended?
